Boot lid creaking

Post by Rocco_Nick »

Hi guys/gals,

Had the Roc into VW a few weeks ago as there was a seriously annoying creaking noise coming from the rear. Turned out to be the gas struts on the boot lid being loose. VW being VW they replaces them and the creaking was silenced! until now :( Just started creaking again, anyone got any thoughts on solving this?

Cheers

Careful what you lube them with - they are made from recycled plastic and IIRC they disintegrate and pop off if you use the wrong stuff.

Yes - they seem to be quite fragile, I have recently replaced both bump stops on mine, they are little over £5 each to replace.

LOL! noted... think il try adjusting them slightly as the right hand side of the boot lid seems to have abit more play than the left. failing that it's back to VW for their technician to figure out

Thanks for the input tho guys
