PART IDENTIFICATION

Sorry if this is a daft question but when pulling the foglight grilles off I noticed a black loose hanging thing on the passenger side which feels like a truncheon. It has a closed end and is just waving about in the space under the headlight. Cant find a picture anywhere. Does anyone know what this might be?

External temperature sensor? (Although this is based on a similar thing I had about 10 years ago with a Golf!)

As said above, it's the external temp sensor. It shouldn't be swinginf about though
There should a locating hole it plugs into to hold it in place.
