Chrome exhaust tips always getting black

Post by jayroc »

Hi Guys,
-Does anyone know why the chrome exhaust tips always getting black on the 2.0 TSI?
-What’s causing the carbon deposit to build up so quickly as I’m having to clean it within 500 miles intervals.
Should I downgrade my petrol from 97 to 95?
Your feedback will be most appreciated.
thanks
Jay

I run my TSI on 95 petrol and always having to clean my exhaust tips as they regularly go black. I find the best thing to clean them is autosol, that gets them nice and shiny in no time!

Polish with Autosol will get your exhaust tips back to looking good as new. I've tried it myself and it certainly does bring back the shine.

That's probably because the DPF traps the soot particles:-)
