Keyless entry

Post by Greyscale »

Hi all, new to this forum, have just confirmed my order for a new facelift scirocco. Very excited!

Anyway, one of the options I chose was keyless entry - I noticed that this isn't on the configurator on the VW site but the dealer was sure it was a genuine option. Has anyone got any experience of how this works? Presume it also comes with the engine starter button? Think this is the first time UK sciroccos have this isn't it?

Congratulations, I think you might be the first on here to have placed an order for the facelifted version. Which model did you go for?

I'm afraid I can't speak from experience (I dont have keyless), but from what I hear, especially from MK7 Golf owners is that it is great, a worthwhile option. Indeed that will come with the starter button.

What sort of lead time have they given you, my money is on November delivery?

Thanks mate! I went for the base trim 1.4 in urano grey with a few extra options on top (I'm more of a casual driver). Got the rear view camera as I heard it's recommended, keyless as mentioned, satnav, and colour MFD because I'm a massive nerd for stuff like that! Been looking to buy a scirocco for a while now so was waiting for the facelift to be available.

Have been quoted 12-14 weeks lead time so looking like mid to late October. Will be taking lots of pics when it arrives.

Great stuff Greyscale, exciting! Mid to late October, not too bad actually, that is only 2 1/2 months away or so.

Will be interested to see your pics when you get it, and any reports would be appreciated. I (and a few others) have been put off slightly by the dash top mounted dials on the face lifted version, but I am sure they are actually probably a lot better in reality than what we see in the pictures.

The long wait begins! :)

I have a Mk7 GTi with keyless and it it brilliant. Especially when you are carrying stuff and cant get your key out easily.

I have an issue with it - its a good idea but flawed in its execution as you still need to carry a normal (looking) key fob for the system to work.

It should have been replaced by a credit card sized gizmo that could be kept in a wallet or purse.

had keyless entry on an previous clio R27 and on my wife's current megane, it is without doubt the most annoying technology ever forced into the driving experience, noting short of a punishment for people who like cars, hopefully her next company car will be a golf and i'll never see that fob again.
