Problem fixed and car collected - Pics Added
i went to pick my car up today, looked stunning when i got there, (the cloth is definately a good choice), went through all the paperwork, dealer showed me round the car etc, got in to drive away, got 5 mins down the road, and bang...no power, misfiring all over the place. Took it straight back but service dept had gone home. So p***ed off! They gave me the demo car to borrow but i was not happy

thanks, it was you who was getting the cloth also wasnt it? I have to say it did look nice, much better than i was expecting. It has a kind of waffle edge (hard to describe) and it looks quite hard and to be honest if you run your hand over it, it is, but to sit on its damn comfy. The demo car they gave me has leather, and while the leather is great, i dont regret getting cloth

Thanks for the description, It does sound nice, I am looking forward to seeing it!
I guess on the plus side at least they have given you another Scirocco to use - but I guess thats the least they can do.

yeah they put quarter tank petrol in it. they didnt give me any indication of what it was, only that he said in his 10 years of selling vws it was the first one he'd had that had done that!
the thing is if it was a factory fault, it surely would have shown in quality control, and if it was always there, then they should have noticed it when they took it for fuel. its not exactly hard to miss!
ill wait to see what they say tomorrow when the service guys have a look at it

I'd be inclined to reject the car and see if anything is in stock that is the same or preferably better specced, by way of compensation.

normally, i would agree with you completely and id give that advice to someone else, however, as gutting as it is, the dealer have been extremely good to me, and ive been quite 'persistent' with them, and everyone i dealt with has been great. So unless it turns out that this car needs parts ordered or something like that which will take ages, i am happy to get this car (as long as its fixed), and keep the relationship with the dealer, as i will most likely get another car from them in the future.
I understand where youre coming from and i would love extra bits and bobs but i think this time im just going to see how it goes for now, plus at the moment i have the sales managers scirocco with lots of bits on! he said put as many miles on it as you need. i took that to mean 'thrash it!' its already got 3000 on it, so i gave it some earlier, and god its quick!

What a nightmare the right thing to do would be to reject the car but if like me you have waited a long time for the car its not easy I had the same trouble with my last car a Honda and I got it sorted and I got compen from the dealer but I never really felt the same way for the car and hated driving it so I got rid of it but I feel for you you must be gutted

Rejecting the car at this point would be rediculous,service haven't even looked at it yet.You're doing the right thing by giving them the chance to put it right IMO,,most likely just a faulty part,something small and simple to fix,any number of wee gismos that could have been faulty and failed early in it's life,that's what the warranty is for.Granted if it need a new engine or major work done i'd be rejecting the car too but no need to jump the gun,it could be fixed by tomorrow lunch time.
Understand your dissapointment though,i'd be pissed too but these thing's happen.Hope they get it sorted for you quickly so you can start enjoying the car.

Gutting for you mate. But like others and you say the fair and reasonable thing would be to let them look at it (it would make rejecting easier if that's what you are forced to do). It maybe something very small but strange it didn't show up in PDI test drive. Good have them to get you the demo car. If its something small you maybe back in it tonight. I rejected a car last year in 3 days but that was because he had a lot of body damage that I didn't want resprayed. Mate, that must be so gutting and takes the edge off what should of been a memorable experience.
I would suggest you keep an exact log of what went wrong, when and conversations you had with your dealer then, should the problem not be resolved to your satisfaction you have a documented history of what went wrong, you will probably struggle to remember down the line if this becomes a protracted issue.
As others have said though, its probably something simple like a failed component or a connector not properly seated rather than anything majorly mechanical, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

thanks guys, i know its only a car and all that, but it is gutting, i do hope its something simple, ive had failed coil packs in previous cars and it did feel something similar to that, but then it also felt like it could be fuel pressure regulator, pump, injectors, in fact it could be anything!

Hey man, that’s bad news;
From factory it should be perfect, even if they fix this issue, what happens a year down the line, will the garage accept it under warranty then?
I know it will be a harder wait second time round but would be worth it mate in the long run, unless they reduce the price by 5k at least!
If I was you and they didn't offer a reasonable discount (5k or more), I wouldn't accept the car and in order to please me they would have to offer another new car within weeks and not stick me at the back of the queue again, otherwise take your order to another dealer.
They may have been patient with you and met your demands/requests at the end of the day mate they're not doing it for free, like every other dealer in the country they’re making money from you, so if they don't accept that giving you a car with potential engine failure doesn't equate to a massive discount then tell them to shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
Let me ask you this, what would you say to them if you were on the motorway and it cut off on you and you had a serious crash? A bit dramatic, but I bet you would be livid with them, so why should this be any different?

i hear what you're saying, but i dont get the impression from speaking to them that this is a major issue, even if it shouldnt happen and its a new car, however on the back of that i will be pushing for paperwork to say that this will not affect warranty etc, and some other extras.
The other issue is that its not just me that wants the car, my work are hounding me for not having it as part of my job description is to have a newish car, and they dont like the POS that im driving at the moment.
Anyway, i cant do anything until i find out what the problem is later, they said theyd call me in an hour. If it is a serious fault, and they decide they want to keep it in, then i will be pushing for another one, but we'll see

well i drove to my friends house just round the corner from the dealer, during which it was showing signs of the problem, which i put down to it not having been driven for a while etc, plus i wasnt giving it many revs so did not know the full extent. picked my mate up, and we took it out, put my foot down a little (3k revs ish) and it just wouldnt go. Luckily i was heading in the direction of the dealer, so limped it back at about 1.5k revs. the dealer is literally 30 seconds from his house.
