VW Finance suck
VW Finance suck
So, I have a Roc on PCP and this is up for change in Jan 2015 - was thinking I would go for a Golf GTD when the time comes (or sooner if the right deal came up as I test drove one).
Last week I went to the same dealer I bought my car new from in Jan 2013 to buy a new car for my daughter and we agreed a deal on a new Polo - all good, zero contribution and only £189 pm for 4 years. The PCP was going to be in my name as she doesn't have any credit history to speak of and when we applied for finance at the garage it came back with immediate approval (I have an Excellent Credit rating so not surprised there ).
Today however the dealership rings and says the underwriters have decided to decline the finance as I am fronting the car for my daughter - apparently I am not able to do this?!!!
I've filed a complaint to VW Finance and am awaiting an explanation as this seems ludicrous - if they stick to the decision then I will be heading swiftly to Mercedes, BMW or Jag when the time comes for my car change - utterly bizarre and totally baffled tbh.

Wtf, why should it matter if your rating is fine

I can see why they would run a mile from underwriting it - can you not go down the guarantor route instead?

Re: VW Finance suck
if it was me personally i would of just kept my mouth shut about it being for my daughter
the finance company doesn't need to know that, if you're paying the finance , its your car, easy

Re: VW Finance suck
On reflection, maybe but I didn't think it would be an issue. I guess they saw it was going to be registered in her name for the free insurance that is currently being offered. I've emailed a complaint and will see what they come back with - maybe I'll get my wife to put it in her name. I fell embarrassed that all they would say to the dealer was it had been declined :-/robb wrote:if it was me personally i would of just kept my mouth shut about it being for my daughter

Re: VW Finance suck
VW Finance require the registered keeper and financee to be one and the same it's simpler from a default/recovery/repossession perspective. TBH the dealer should have known this before putting the application through.
Complaint wise VW Customer services are worth a call and asking for the brand manager / sales manager / dealer principle as appropriate at the dealer you used. Solutions is a regulated product and sales person should understand the T&C's before proposing it to you.
Most manufacturer car finance have this clause, I know all Mercedes agility and jag Privilege agreements do.

I don't think it makes a repossession any more or less difficult but if that's their position on it sobeit.
Her current car is a Citroen DS3 and we both appear on the log book but the finance is in my name - maybe this should have been the application with VW and would have made a difference. Too late now I guess

Re: VW Finance suck
So, turns out they saw me as fronting the deal for my daughter so went and bought her a new Smart car on 0% finance with more kit than the Polo for less money per month - actually a lot less!
VW dealer highly unhappy with VWF and is taking it up with VWUK senior management - good luck to them with that!

Re: VW Finance suck
it can be a pain in the arse , i remember a similar situation with a fella on here who bought a brand new one on finance, but his dad was the financee as the chap himself had a bad credit rating, vw accepted it anyway he got all the way down to it being produced and shipped to the dealer and upon collection day it turned out his dad didn't have a driving license and therefore should of been declined the finance based on the fact he can't actually drive the car he's buying ! the chap never did let us know wether he got his deposit back either

Re: VW Finance suck
That is really weird.
Finance and ownership are very different things. A friend of mine has his dad 'pay' his as his credit record is non-existent (he is 22) and then he pays his dad.
Audi finance didn't care - as the credit check was done in the dad's name so they knew they were getting paid.
I am genuinely stunned they've refused it.
