impressed with mpg!
So going by the display (I know its approximate but CBA with an excel spreadsheet) I drove from london to nottingham at about 85mph and got just over 32mpg.
I find my R getting to 29mpg on dual carriage way runs.
In fact its respectable as long as you can keep it moving.
This car really doesn't like stopping at starting and makesyou pay for it ! E.g. 18mpg when covering 16miles over 1hr 45mins in london.
This from a manual transmission too.
Though I am a firm believer in premium petrol for this engine.
What's everyone's mpg like?

Re: impressed with mpg!
I went derby to london, about 30 Miles of city driving atleast. A Full tank got me 380 Miles which is like my best so far. i was shocked. I was making the DSG noise everywhere in the city as i love that sound which also sucks my fuel but still got around 35 mpg.

Re: impressed with mpg!
I don't get anywhere near that I'm averaging 16 round the town and I like to make all the sounds! But even in the motorway travelling at 85-90 I'm only getting 27mpg and only got about 280 from a full tank

I used to get 22mpg in my scirocco r but that was mostly short sprinted drives, which I didn't mind.

Re: impressed with mpg!
39mpg is amazeballs!
From filling a few full tanks now I have a real world average mpg of 29-30mpg:)
On a long motorway cruise 31-33mpg. Air con makes a big difference.
That's only a bit less then my 122ps did over the same journeys, though usually that would get 35-36mpg without trying.

Re: impressed with mpg!
My Scirroco R dashboard says 29.6 Mpg but a real test shows I'm getting 27.8 MPG, still I'm impressed for such a performance car.
Mine's a DSG auto and I'm on regular supermarket unleaded.

Does regular fuel make a difference? I've only ever used the premium unleaded but partly cos I don't know what I'm doing!3t3p wrote:Regular fuel?! Unhappy face

I get between 29 - 32 mpg with a long term of 29.9. Using a mix of Mobil/Shell and BP whichever is cheapest at the time

Re: impressed with mpg!
I have used supermarket "super" unleaded (Tesco's & Sainsbury's), supermarket unleaded and shell unleaded and I have noticed no difference in performance or how the engine runs. I have to say MPG was possible up slightly on the super but not enough to justify the high extra cost.Jaffa14 wrote:Does regular fuel make a difference? One exception was a full fill of Asda standard unleaded once and the engine seemed a bit lumpy on this fuel so never used it again.
