DAB & Bluetooth questions

Post by DeanoArmstrong »

Bought my 2.0tsi GT last week, absolutely loving the car.

Two slight problems with the audio system though.

First being Bluetooth, I have an iPhone 5 updated to 1.7.1 and the Bluetooth says my mobile phone is not compatible. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there an update disc or anything I can do with the system?

Second, the DAB system keeps flickering in and out while driving, It's usually when I'm driving under trees etc, guess this is just a usual occurrence?

Thanks

Iphone 5 updated to 1.7.1?! Do you mean 7.1.1?
anyway, what year is your car? I suspect you might have an old bluetooth module. The software is hardwired into the system, and cannot be updated using a disc. You would have to swap out the module.
What kind of bluetooth unit is it? Do you have an extra screen you have to mount or is it OEM and integrated into your stereo unit?

As for DAB, I guess coverage isn't amazing all round the country yet - but people who have DAB on their rocs will be able to help you with that

Although I live in the sticks I find the DAB coverage and signal quality to be very good. I have my unit set to switchover to FM when it loses signal and it jumps between the 2 almost seamlessly. If it wasn't for the difference in the transmissuon delays you would hardly notice the switchover.

Sorry forgot to add links to images.

Here.

My Unit is this, not sure what model it is?

My Dash menu shows my phone.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v236/ ... G_4071.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But i get this message moments after trying to connect:

Any Ideas?

Youve got the older bluetooth module, you'll need to upgrade it for it to work with the newer iPhones.

Cheers rob, it's probably cheaper to just change my phone rather than Bluetooth unit.

I've tried my sisters Samsung galaxy and that connects allows calls to come through but the Bluetooth audio doesn't seem to trigger?

I'd change the module... Would be good if you could look up the module number for the current one to confirm - I suspect it's an rSap one .i.e. only works with Nokia and some other phones, but not iPhones.

You need a 7P6035730* model
