Oil light

Post by steview »

The oil light on my 2.0tsi doesn't come on with the rest of the dash lights when I switch on the ignition, is this normal? I looked for it coming on when starting the car after an oil change but it doesn't light up at all

Should come on with ignition. When doing an oil change mine stays on for a fraction of the second until the oil filter fills and pressure builds up.

Salsajoe what year is your car? I've looked on another forum and apparently the oil light doesn't illuminate at all, if there's a problem with oil pressure it shows up on the MFD. Seems daft to me, if the light comes on then goes out when the car starts you at least know everythings fine

Just a thought but it might depend on whether the cluster has Highline MFD fitted.

My car has Highline and can't say.I've ever noticed the oil light coming on with the ignition.
