Vw scirocco RNS 510 bluetooth problem. Help please!!!

I have recently bought my first VW scirocco 2.0 TSI 2008.

I have just found out that I have bluetooth in the car which works perfect every time with the telephone function. I have activated bluetooth audio in the media setting, but I cannot get my iPhone 5 to show as a source to select, as per the instruction manual. I cannot get any bluetooth audio at all, and can't work out why.

Also when I connect a usb to my Media socket in centre console, nothing shows up and does not charge phone.

Can someone please help me, or does iPhone 5 just not work with bluetooth audio.

Been searching the net for answer but can't find anything, so any help or the answer would be much appreciated.

My iPhone 5s doesn't show as a source but I just press play and it comes through the speakers. HTH

Mine only ever showed up as a source when I started playing music on the phone.

Even when I press play on the iphone nothing happens. I get aux or Hdd show up as a selection.

Just went and tried again and nothing happens. Have pressed "forget this device" on iPhone and reconnected. Then tried turning car off and on, turned aux off. I just cannot make music play via bluetooth or via the media input cable.

Do all RNS 510 head units have bluetooth audio, or is there a possibility that there are modules that need to be added. I have read about software updates for the head unit, but not sure if this is true or how it can be done.

Anymore suggestion would be great as this is really frustrating.

My iPhone 5s works with bluetooth.
Don't wanna get too technical with this (it's hard not too), but I wonder if your bluetooth module has good enough A2DP compatibility with the iphone... Having said that, I dont think I have heard of any bluetooth modules completely rejecting the iphone.

Do you know where the bluetooth box is? is it under the Driver/Passenger seat?! If it is, can you pull it out and tell us what the Part number is?

Also, you cannot play music with an iPhone via the USB input.. You need to use the dedicated iphone cable (dont know the part number). What I do is I use the iphone cable supplied with the car (the old plug that works up to iphone 4s), in conjunction with an apple lightning adapter. all works fine

Thank you very much for taking the time to help out. I will have a look for the bluetooth module and come back with a part number. The weird thing it works great with the telephone function just will not play any of my music.

With your car being a 2008 it will be a DDP module as it has the Red display and some of those modules don't support A2DP to play audio files over Bluetooth. It's only the 2010 BAP modules for white display that all come with A2DP support.

Post the part number and I should be able to find out for you.

Couldn't find the bluetooth module under the either seat. But yes I have a red display on the dash board so it think this would make sense. This being the case do I need to buy a complete new module?

Also looking at the AMI MMI audio cable I have it is a usb connection, and looking online for a ipod connector version all the ones I can find are 2009 models onwards. Are these likely to work if I got one and plug an ipod into it? I did try using an ipod plugged into the AMI MMI usb cable but that didn't work either.

Last question I have seen online for £60 an VISEEO TUNE2AIR iPOD ADAPTOR which plugs into the AMI MMI cable and supposedly works like a factory fitted bluetooth module. Has anybody seen or used one that can verify they do what they say they do. The device claims to auto connect and give you full control via head unit.
