New to the scirocco fleet

Post by jordan359 »

Hi there,

I recently purchased a Scirocco R - delivery is planned for Saturday.
I am very excited about the transition from my old car (seat leon) to this new one and would like to request some information from you guys.

What are the best subtle mods that can be applied to the Roc? I'm so used to seeing Leon mods that it has left me craving some for my new scirocco.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! :)

Cheers,

What spec is the new car Jordan, does it have DCC etc?

The R's all benefit from some lowering springs from either of the two big names Eibach or H&R and benefit even even more from some good quality coilovers from Bilstien or KW. It will get rid of that nasty 4x4 stance and sharpen up the handling.

Engine mods... welcome to wonderland, it just depends how far down the rabbit hole you want to go. I would suggest and recommend a Revo stage 1 remap to release some of the potential or get rid of the nasty restrictive down pipe and go for stage 2.

The R suspension is already lower than the GT & Standard so it doesn't have the 4x4 look really.
If it's new then wouldn't you prefer to break it in gently and use the 3yr VW warranty? Else chip that mutha! (though costly as the engine mounts can need upgrading as well as full exhaust if you go that far).

You will now be driving a car of "refined fury". Unleash more power and add body mods and you lose the design brief for an amazing sleek sexy car. It already looks so different by having no plastic side trims nor front fog lamps. Oh and that sexy blingy R badge like a rappers silver tooth :D

Well, Here's the motor! I must say, I have been extremely pleased with the performance of the car up to now. When you refer to DCC, I presume that is the same as the uk ACC? If so then I do have this system in the car. At the moment I am not looking to increase the performance - I already think it is a bit of a beast :).

The only thing I have seriously considered changing is the color of the alloys from standard chrome to a grey/black color, perhaps Anthracite or Gun metal?

Thanks for the responses so far.

Please don't put black wheels on a black car, it looks rubbish.

I thought that too, until I saw a black Golf R with them, and a black Rocco GT with black lugano's. Looked pretty cool tbh :)

I know the whole blackout look can seem a bit much at first, However IMO if the contrast between the two tones of black is subtle enough it can look ok. Anyhow, I am leaning more towards dark grey colouring rather than full blackout.

Hi guys, just waiting to pick up my scirocco r on Saturday as I'm Getting cursive control fitted and thought I'd rather get it sorted before I get it than have to get it back in! Anyway the machine is unreal after upgrading from a 1.4tsi 160bhp ... What kind of mpg am I looking at!!! I've got a heavy foot and was averaging 10mpg on the test drive... If I'm honest my driving style isn't going to change when I get the car either!!! But u suppose I am conscious about motorway mpg - normally I travel at 85- 90! What should I expect ?

What did you mean by 'cursive control'? Cruise control I assume? I would guess at those speeds you would be looking at about 26/27 mpg.

Also should I be using the special petrol you get from the stations!!! Not the standard unleaded crap??? As you can probably tell in new to fast cars

Mine refuses to drink anything but Shell's V Power.. And quite a lot of it.. But,you know.. We have the R's for a reason. And huge petrol costs are part of the package lol.. Make sure you collect the Shell bonus points btw.. They will soon add up ;-)

Yeah someone told me today.... I bet your car eats up fuel for fun!!!! I said exactly.... For fun! Pick it up tomorrow night!!! So is it just shell v power stuff or any premium fuel.... Does it make a difference as I have only ever
Used standard unleaded with my 1.4 as didn't think it would make a difference! I'm not bothered about the costs to be fair I totally understand when I bought it and it wouldn't be good on fuel!! I'm really pleased it does 25mpg plus on the motorway at 90 though cos that's the only time I don't really do silly driving and I like to cruise!
