MDI Cables
I have very recently purchased a new Scirocco and one of the optional extras I ordered with the car was the Multi Device Interface (MDI). The day I picked up the car I noticed there was no MDI cable/cables and when I queried this with the dealer he admitted one should have been included and would source one for me which incidently I am still waiting for. Does anyone know what type of cable/cables should come with the car, are there two different types of iPhone/iPod cables, one for earlier iPhone/iPods and another for the latest iPhone 5 and iPod Touch and if so which one should have been included. I have read elsewhere that some dealers have supplied a USB cable as well as the Apple cables (hence Multi Device Interface) which is what I was expecting.

Re: MDI Cables
Mine came with 2 cables, one USB and one for iPhone 4 / iPod. That was a few years ago so it may still not be the case.
Re: MDI Cables
That should still be the case - although you will need an adapter for later i-phones....
These cables are a fiver on ebay by the way....

Re: MDI Cables
There is only one usb cable type that I know of, I suspect its more to do with the presentation of the data via USB by the phone. There are two types of USB Mass Storage presentation; UMS and MTP. This link may help (or may not);Shaun1982 wrote:Is there only one version of the usb cable? I got one from work but it doesn't work with my HTC one

Might be easier just to get a cheap external USB drive and put all your media on that instead and store it in the armrest.

Re: MDI Cables
Thanks for the response,I'll have a look at the link. I just get message on the screen saying something like not supported. Would be nice to be able to skip through via the wheel controls rather than on the actual phone when using the aux cable
