New Nav question (help please)

Post by insanojackson »

Now i have had a moaning post about my nav system. However i have now tried it with the disc in the drive. It now seems to be working fine. I was however under the impression that the system was meant to work without the disc in once the data was loaded?

Can anyone confirm if i always need the nav disc in to use the nav?? And if i dont need it in all the time what steps do i need to take to get the nav to work without the disc present?

Hell no! My disc has never moved from the shelf it landed on when i got the car home. The stealer installed it all for me and i've never even put the disc in!! Hope you get it sorted, it would drive me absolutely nuts.....

, Just been having another play. Now it seems to give me routes to fairly local addresses when the disc isnt in the drive. If the destination is within 5-6 miles. If however i try somewhere further afield it give me the old "route guidance inactive" bollocks, even if these addresses are 10-15 miles away. I really dont understand the thing? manual is no help at all!

Just read the RNS 510 manual online, page 60 states how to transfer the DVD data into the nav unit, so the DVD is no longer required. It seems all you do is put the DVD in, and the transfer happens in the background, but you can choose to be alerted by a message when this process is complete.

If the data stored in the unit matches that on the DVD, then nothing happens and no message will appear on disc insertion.

That probably doesn't help you but anyway....

ISJ

I think your Nav is lost - quite literally!! :fall:

Take it back to the the stealers and get them to fix it/explain it - after all it was an expensive option and my Garmin plug-in has never let me down and never had to be explained as it is so simple to use. I would assume for £1.5k yours should not be giving you this grief?
My Roc was fast - but now its FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roc On!!

cheers, had a look at that. I am going to try and wipe the hard drive then reload all the data myself. I will leave it for a good hour to make sure it works!
