Hi all
My 5 month old Scirocco GT has developed its first fault. Dash is displaying Airbag Error. Was driving without issue when it just came on. Taking it in tomorrow to dealer for diagnostics.
Any ideas?

Re: Airbag Error
I've had a recurring issue with this on the passenger side.
It might just need a reset.
I've had 4 or 5 resets now but they've told me it'll need a new unit if it happens again, for a pant wetting £500. As I originally brought it to their attention 4 years ago (under warranty) I'm hoping I'll be at least partly covered.
The other possibility is that the connector has just come loose. It's under the seat and can come undone if someone has plonked down particularly hard or if a rear passenger has been kicking their feet about under the seat. The seat needs to come out to get to it though.
If your car is still under warranty it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Airbag Error
i have a 2009 rocco and had a similar problem
i use a vw trained mechanic.
he said it was a regular problem with vws,
something to do with an overload/earthing problem on the particular wiring system used to go to the seat, sorry im not technically or electically minded to word it properly.
he stripped and cleaned the connector under the seat which seems to hav cured the problem,
he said if it returns another option is to create i think he said a new lead or earth, which just involves a little bit o solder and new wire reroute.
if its under waranty no problem,if not speak to a competent vw/audi mechanic.
the cost was free as he had just replaced the clutch in my t25 camper.

Re: Airbag Error
My airbag fault was a slip ring issue.

Re: Airbag Error
Cheers all. Will see tomorrow hopefully. It was brand new when I bought it so plenty of warranty left for resolution.

Re: Airbag Error
Back from dealers. Told the error code related to the drivers side airbag. The one that runs up the side of the windscreen. They took it apart and reassembled it and error cleared. They aren't sure what the problem was. Maybe a connection that needed reseated. Time will tell.
