Wellcome, and congrats.

My first car was an 10 year old VW Polo wich was held together with old newspapers :D
Had to turn it in after 3 months

Cheers,

My dad had one. The smooth and refined Honda engines easily outlived the Cowley-built shell!

My first car was a cared-for but very, very tired, sickly orange Morris Marina, 150 quid in 1979. First thing I did was get a mate to spray it black. Remember pulling into a petrol station and bumping into the chap who sold it me: his face was etched with sadness at the colour change

Yes - what a car to start off with! Just to add to the thread my first car was an Austin Allegro Sport (handed down from parents) in 1986!

"Allegro" and "Sport" - two words which should NEVER go in the same sentence together  lol

Thank you everyone, not been home very often due to college/training and working away for a month at a time so been able to save up for it. It is a very nice first car, hopefully going to keep it for a good while and take care of it for sure!

My Dads first car was a racing green MG Midget, kept that for more that 25 years! Don't know if I will be able to beat that!

LOL - yeah, it said 'Sport' on the side, what with its 1750cc Austin Maxi engine and 'Cosmic' spoked steering wheel (not the square one). Rust everywhere, gear lever like stirring soup, infact the linkage broke on me once! But... I was able to do repairs myself, unlike today's high tech motors. Ah - , there was a lever I had to pull out and pump on the throttle to start from cold, called a choke from memory. :) The youngsters on here will wonder what I am on about! :D

Ah the choke. How I miss the art of balancing the throttle and the amount of choke at the first junction in the morning so it doesn't cut out or scream it's nuts off.
