I was looking at power differences, I know that the R is 40 or 60 bhp more I was just wondering what is what that caused the extra power?Sincs wrote:The 2.0tsi is cool.tmull3tt wrote:What are the differences between the 2.0tsi and the R?

Haven't driven a 2.0 TSI but just got my R
All I can say is if you can afford it by hook or by crook you should go for it.
It builds speed so rapidly its such an experience

Re: How fast is an R?
Engine wise? The R engine is different lump to the 2.0TSI basically a higher pressure turbo, cast iron block, strengthened aluminium-silicon alloy cylinder head, forged pistons, new bearings, strengthened con-rods, revised high-pressure injectors. I could continue listing the basic architectural changes of EA113 hi-po vs EA113 standard but they where quite extensive. Things are admitted made more complex by the 2.0TSI rocco using the newer generation EA888 lump which was a major change vs the older EA113. However virtually all the changes made between standard and high power EA113 units have been made in creating the new high power EA888 for the new S3/Golf R.tmull3tt wrote: I was looking at power differences, I know that the R is 40 or 60 bhp more I was just wondering what is what that caused the extra power?

On the subject of speed and the R, what is the top speed of the R without its limiter (Stock)

Re: How fast is an R?
Manual box 162mph, DSG 162mph box both are limited by the rev limiter, final drive + 6th gear ratio of 0.87 / 3.44 DSG and 0.91 / 3.27 manual.
TBH the top speed is somewhat academic considering how long the car will take to get there.
