What are your feelings on...

Post by littlendr »

I just recently got my new 'Roc. Loving the drive so far. I got the R-Line 2.0 TDi 177PS version in pearl black.

Managed to get dealers' stickers off (finally - cheeky buggers!) and the 2.0 TDi badge off as I don't like the look. The scirocco badge is obvioulsy staying but wondering what the general feeling is on R-badging it when it clearly isn't that model (diesel noise and twin exhaust a giveaway!!)

Happy to take alternative suggestions on something to put on the RHS instead...!

Also..does anyone know some specialist plate-makers as the current ones have dealerships name on too. (also had a back sticker and on the tax disc holder (also replaced!!!)).

Thanks all.

Completely agree with the above. Its not a r so dont go there. Rline would be fine.

Agreed - If it not an 'R', it should not be badged an 'R'.

Not sure I understand your reasons Nick for wanting to replace the number plates as they have the dealership names on them? :?

I do. Why should you offer the dealer free advertising? First day I started taking the back window sticker off (took three days as each letter was separate and I was paranoid about breaking the rear window heater element) Day 3 I had plain number plates stuck on with pads rather than screwed on. I also took all the words off the back inc Scirocco.

Got my number plates from a mate who runs a garage and just left the dealer sticker off when he made the plate. It's the law to have at least the post code of the plate supplier so the plod can trace illegal plates back to the supplier unfortunately. But if you can find someone who isn't bothered they'll be OK as the plod won't be able to trace them......

Also some internet suppliers sell plates for "off road only use", needless to say no rules if they're not for road use, http://www.fancyplates" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or similar was one I've used in the past.

Thanks Chelspeed. Yeah I hate the dealer advertising - really does annoy me.

I went for a red R-Line badge in the end. I didn't like the thought of R-badging as I saw Focus TDi's badged as STs during my time..!
