It's amazing how putting the black into the colour scheme has altered it for the better. Notice there's no front view though... Maybe the noses are going to be as ugly as predicted?!

Yes I saw that photo on the BBC website earlier and was somewhat relieved to see that the cars may not be as ugly as predicted, but... Indeed, it is a side profile and not giving anything away with regard to the nose.

Looking forward to the new season although I hope the 1.6 litre turbos dont sound too muted!

Cyril Abiteboul from Caterham says their car looks like something out of Alien :)
When asked by AUTOSPORT about how the new Caterham will look, he said: "It is going to be ugly.

"I think F1 is still show business and it should still be attractive to people.

"Kids should be dreaming when they see an F1 car - I don't know about the dream or nightmare you will be having when you look at those cars.

"It does remind me of the 'Alien' film with it coming out the mouth."

And Lotus top view (what the...?):

Maybe the Lotus has a nose like a tuning fork so others are aware when Pastor is coming!!

The Ferrari is easily the best-looking so far. Therefore if looks produce speed, could be a good contest between Alonso and Raikkonen!

Lotus nose is due to regulations. The smaller fork isn't considered "the nose" so in turn, they've done 2 noses which by the regs, is 1 nose.

They all look a bit strange, but even in previous seasons I have thought certain designs look 'ugly', but like anything, you get used to them. This 'anteater' nose seems to be the term given to describe the design, but you may remember the 'mantaray' nose on the Williams some years back, and wasn't there a shark profile on the Jordan? I recall they did superimpose sharks teeth on the side.

Going way back now to the Nigel Mansell era, I remember they narrowed the width of the rear tyres from the 92 to 93 season. That looked strange then but it inadvertently made the cars faster in a straightline as there was less drag produced by the narrower width profile.

Well well well, no surprise that the Red Bull looks a bit different to the rest, but not such a bad design. Mercedes looks the most 'traditional', Force India and Torro Rosso are going for the 'Biggest Schlong' contest, and Caterham?.? What in the name of all that is Holy happened there?? That is gopping!
