Dirty Headlights on the Inside

Post by TahirM »

Hey guys,

Just wondering the Inside of my headlights are dirty. Do not know how it has happened but how can I get them cleaned? :(

If they were mine I'd: Take them out, remove the blubs. Half fill with warm water, a tiny bit of washing up liquid and some uncooked rice (to give some non-abrasive rubbing). Shake them up a lot. Rinse them out with plain water. Dry in the airing cupboard.

Not tried it though.

I wouldnt risk doing anything with them, forever end up with condensation problems etc I expect.

If there that bad, get some new ones mate.

Well I am taking the car to VW on Monday next week because the rear tail light is condensing up for some reason, no visible cracks. Would it be covered under warranty?

I will mention the front lights to them aswell

Did you ever get this sorted? I’ve just purchased a 2010 Sirocco 1.4 TSI and it has the dusty, almost looking like tiny cracks on the inside issue but I’m not sure whether it’s worth cleaning or going through and just purchasing a new set of headlights entirely. I’ve got a pair of headlights reserved at EuroCarParts for £220 that I’m going to pick up on Monday but if you have any other solutions that you’d recommend before then, it’d be greatly appreciated!

Try cleaning out the inside of the headlights, think all you need to take them out is a T25 screw
