Wow - can't believe mk5 was 2003. I recall mk6 was 2009 as they had one under a cover in the showroom when I bought my Scirocco, so it was a very long production run for the mk5.

The boot will also be different, the logo will be the switch to open it. And the rear passenger window will be larger.pafa wrote:According to my sources the highlights of the facelift will be Golf MkVII style headlights and LED rear lights...dont think the facelift will feature the new Discover Media NAV, because they are only offered on the MQB platform - and not the old platform that the facelifted Scirocco will still be based on. Dont have any info on the assistance systems, although a radar controlled cruise control could be very cool :-) (dont think that will happen though)

I've just seen this new edited image which seems more accurate judging from the new honeycomb grill in the spy shots... I don't like the grill

Re: Scirocco facelift spied in the US
The facelift will be a mild one to bring the new corporate look in so it's likely to just be a Golf mk7 nose on it. That's probably not a bad photoshopped guess at it.

Re: Scirocco facelift spied in the US
Nothing really new to report, but I noticed that 'car' magazine (page 16) has a small feature on the next generation Scirocco. Looks pretty certain that it wont arrive before 2017 and looks like it will have a Performance Pack option similar to the MK7 Golf GTI.
There is also talk of a 330PS 'RS' version also. Facelift looks likely for Spring next year where revised engines are likely to feature, but won't sit on the much touted 'MQB' platform.
If it were me, I would wait until 2017 by which time my Roc will be 8 years old!

Re: Scirocco facelift spied in the US
According to a recent report, Volkswagen has ended production of the Scirocco R.
Despite sounding like bad news, the model was reportedly halted because Volkswagen has stopped building the car’s turbocharged EA113 engine.
While it's sad to see the car go, a facelifted Scirocco is expected to debut at the Geneva Motor Show (6 to 16 March 2014). Previous spy photos have shown it will have an evolutionary design with a new front fascia that could have a revised grille and updated headlights.
Engine options will likely mirror the Golf and the Scirocco R is slated to return to the lineup with a new EA888 mill that produces 300 HP (221 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque.

Re: Scirocco facelift spied in the US
I think we will all await with interest to see what this face lifted model will be like, probably not too dissimilar to the photoshop images we have seen.
It's funny, I was starting to get very interested in the Golf MK7 GTI as a possibility for my next car, but I am warming to the Roc again now. I will be keen to see what this next version will be like but of course it won't (as far as we are aware) be sitting on the MQB platform.

Here's the full text from the source:
Auf Wiedersehen, Scirocco R
A metallic-blue Volkswagen Scirocco R press vehicle is currently making the rounds on American turf, generating a lot of buzz and the hope that it might one day be offered in the New World as well. Forget it: It is not even available in Europe anymore. VW has killed the Scirocco R, because production of that model’s turbocharged EA113 engine has stopped.
The next Scirocco will be launched at the Geneva auto show, and, happily, it will be offered in high-performance R guise yet again, with the 300-horsepower EA888 engine under the hood. And no, it won’t come to the America. The next one is essentially a face-lifted version of the current model, still based on VW’s old PQ35 platform. An all-new, MQB-based Scirocco, due in four to five years, is the Scirocco that could finally return to the U.S. market.

Re: Scirocco facelift spied in the US
Interesting 4-5yrs puts rocco replacement right at the end of planned new MQB platform launches must be a good reason for VW to have put replacement so far back.

They need to get the big volume sellers going to bring in the money to cover the development costs of the platform. The niche market cars can then come in at the end.

Re: Scirocco facelift spied in the US
There's a render in the latest Auto Motor und Sport magazine looking fairly similar to the one in posted by Nospheratu in the R thread.
So the one in the mag is quite similar to this:Nospheratu wrote:I just placed an order for an R on Monday and its scheduled for build week 10... so the factory is still taking orders from South Africa at least. I'm thinking of cancelling though as VWSA removed the ACC and manual transmission options and I'm hoping its added again once the facelift goes into production.
I initially wanted the current shape as I did the very rough mockup below of what the R would look with the new Golf R bumper and I prefer the current look. That's assuming VW use the Golf R bumper when they do the facelift.
