Mooing from clutch

Post by Eberkos »

hey guys have read the below information, bought my scirocco last week, love the car but on second day it developed the noise described below.

i bought the car from a jct 600 mazda garage with a 12 month platinum warranty, so should this be covered as it isnt wear and tear it is a fault.

also if the dealer refuses to budge and help me out will my clutch eventually fail due to the fault or will it continue to wear at normal rate

any help would be appreciated

Checkpoints Summary - Transmission:

The gearboxes are built robust units giving long service. The 6 speed DSG does need the Gear Oil and filter serviced every 40,000 miles (60,000 Km). This is a must with VW warranty and goodwill in mind.

The DSG has a recall on early Scirocco GT’s 2008/2009 models for a temperature sensor problem disabling the transmission drive. So examine the boot floor for a little white sticker marked 37E8 to make sure the rectification has been performed.

The 2008 built GT’s DSG can have a juddering clutch engagement which can be expensive outside warranty due to the gearbox Mechatronics controller becoming worn.

The 6 speed manual transmissions need to checked out for stiff 2nd gear, particularly when the gear oil is cold. Gearbox replacement rectifies this.

Also check the clutch for mooing/squeaking sounds as the clutch pedal releases while the car is under load. This is not clutch wear but the free play in the clutch mechanism which requires a new clutch to solve.

This could be the same fault I had - if so you will need the clutch replacing. You might need video evidence to persuade your dealer, but don't take no for an answer as the law is on your side - they have to fix the car.

Hope it's sorted now. You were lucky - including diagnostics mine was away for 3 weeks. A pipe got broken and the part had to be sent over from Germany which took ages. I was in a Nissan Micra for most of that time!
