Water In Left Exhaust?
Just wondering if this is normal? After driving the right exhaust is hot and dry but the left exhaust is always cold with some water collected in the end. I know water from the exhaust can be perfectly normal but was just wondering because the right hand side is always hot and dry.

Re: Water In Left Exhaust?
Is there not a flap on the R exhaust that shuts off one outlet at lower revs to reduce noise?
My R32 had one and would display similar traits as you describe

Hmm not sure about the flap to be honest. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this?Cuprabob wrote:Is there not a flap on the R exhaust that shuts off one outlet at lower revs to reduce noise?

Re: Water In Left Exhaust?
I've done a quick search and it would seem the Scirocco R does have an exhaust flap on the nearside outlet. If you look under the car you should seee the actuator between teh backbox and the outlet.
So no need to worry then :-)

Nice one Chungster, I searched and couldn't find anything earlier.

Tie a kink in the pipe and your water problem will magically evaporate. It will also sound a lot beefier lower down - I'm guessing this flapper is there to satisfy some EU noise requirement?
On another note, I'm really liking the engine note of the Scirocco now. I dunno why but it reminds me of the sound the 2.8 Capri's used to make! Very cool in a retro sort of way.

I know it's an old topic but can someone tell me how can I permanently open the exhaust flap so the exhaust is a little bit louder? Thank's in advance.

Pull the vacuum line off the valve and cap the rubber hose.cavido wrote:I know it's an old topic but can someone tell me how can I permanently open the exhaust flap so the exhaust is a little bit louder? Thank's in advance.
