Powder coating is what you want to do to wheels, not plasti-dip.

I had mine done dark anthracite with a satin finish a couple of years ago and I still love them. You can see pics of them in this post.

I aagree with Paralla - you need to have them powder coated for durability. Black (especially matt) is too great a contrast in colour in my opinion, satin anthacite would be perfct!

Am I the only one who absolutely hates Black wheels on any vehicles regardless of colour? It just turns even the nicest of wheels into a round Black blur with no definition or detail left? Maybe it's just me

No , you're not alone dude - one of my pet hates too I'm afraid. Like you say,the wheel & tyre blur all in to one and you lose all definition of that contrast between wheel and tyre. 20" alloys may as well be 16's because you cant see the profile. Even if you have a contrasting pin stripe on the rim to break up the black a bit - it looks so much better (to me) , but no - 'all black' alloys are a definite turn off for me

I would agree too. With black wheels you run the risk of sending out a message to other drivers that you are a bit of a p***k and likely to drive irresponsibly - plus they look a bit rubbish. It's all down to personal choice though - and it looks like Marcel has already decided on the black anyway. Which kind did you go for in the end?

I personally like the look of dark alloys on a light coloured cars, particularly white.

I get that the wheel and tyre kind of merge but then the wheels and tyre as a whole make a good contrast to a light car.

Having said that I don't like jet black as it just sucks all the light in and to me it looks like there are dark holes where the wheels should be.

Personally I like my dark anthracite with a satin finish.

For what it's worth piano black interior trim just looks wrong to me. I prefer the contrast of silver with the otherwise dark interior, especially if some bits of the interior are black but some are still silver (gear lever surround, light switch, door handles, handbrake release knob). The steering wheel spokes especially remind me of an old Japanese car where they have painted the chrome window surround black to differentiate an SE from an SLE or whatever and then it starts peeling off in a few years revealing the chrome underneath.

But each to their own.

Hey guys :) Thanks so much for all the opinions. I decided to go with Matte, the reason i went for plasti dip was because I wasn't sure if I was going to like the colour, so i can still peel of if it doesn't please me. :) but I really like the black, so i might get them powder coated as soon as the Plasti-dip gives me problems. And each to his own guys, my girl looks good to me :p . PS sorry for the bad quality, its from my S3, I'll take some proper ones tomorrow :) once again, thanks for all the replies. Image

The Matte was definitely a better choice anyway, it doesn't cause the black blur effect nearly half as badly as gloss would and you can see some definition to them

Not sure you can stereotype someone as a 'bad' driver or a pr**ck because they have black wheels... just saying!

if everyone was the same, the world would be a boring place!

I'm not a bad driver :( :p lol i like the dark wheels because they just look bad ass, but as I and a few others have said, Each to his own :) for example, other color wheels look 'cheap' to me, I mean no disrespect to anyone, but to me they don't look right. :) it looks a lot better than it did stock :)

Hi bud. Its still on. Will post a pic now. I'd suggest it if you drive bed roads as they offer very good protection against rocks getting kicked up.

Thanks for the quick reply

Still looking really good. Surprised how durable it is.

Will be getting Plasti Dip aerosole cans from eBay tonight!

No problem mate. Just remember that the Powder Coating does look a bit better but for my needs (protection) this works extremely well.
