New owner question..
Hi Guys,
I've just taken the punt and purchased a late 2010 VW Scirocco GT TDI 140. Lovely car. However i do have a question regarding the bluetooth telephone connectivity.
I have the Sat nav unit touch screen which i believe is the RNS510, voice commands work fine using the steering wheel button.
However the advert said it has 'Bluetooth telephone preparation' does this mean i can connect my phone to my car via Bluetooth? I cannot seem to find the options.
Thanks in advance,
James

Re: New owner question..
On a 2010 car bluetooth was an optional extra.
If you have it ,you should be able to find a phone menu on the DIS by pushing the phone button on the MFSW or by using the left / right buttons on the RHS of the MFSW.
Bluetooth module is located under driver's seat in a polystyrene holder.
Have you done a bluetooth search on your phone to find "VW PHONE"?
2010 Bluetooth might only support rSAP protocol, which not all phones support. Do a search, lots of info.
Bluetooth connectivity is the most popular question after."why can't I switch off my lights"

Bob - would Bluetooth have been installed as part of the RNS510 package I am wondering (presuming its a factory option)?

Re: New owner question..
As far as I'm aware they are not linked. Up until the back end of 2011, Bluetooth was an option irrespective of what head unit was specced.Mark V wrote:Bob - would Bluetooth have been installed as part of the RNS510 package I am wondering (presuming its a factory option)?

Hi CarBob,
Thanks for your reply - much appreciated.
Sounds silly but i have searched before i posted. When i press 'Phone' on the RNS510 it just mutes the music. If the car was purchased with Bluetooth Telephone Preparation, what does this mean? Does that mean all the wiring is there and it just needs the module?
Many thanks
James

Re: New owner question..
It sounds as if your car does not have the bluetooth option fitted, if it mutes when you push the phone button.
I would read."Bluetooth Telephone Preparation" as it having the option fitted. I would contact the dealer you bought the car from to clarify as it could have been a mistake in the advert.

Re: New owner question..
I had this issue when u purchased my Roc, I questioned the garage because they said my car had cruise in the advert which it didn't, I had money back from them towards Bluetooth & cruise, monies I received covered the cost of both factory fit products so happy days.
If its in the advert question it & make sure you get something off then or get then to fit it, false advertising comes to mind ?
Good luck.

I argued the case with the garage, what have you got to loose ?

At least worth a friendly.discussion with the dealer regarding the advert emphasising your disappointment. As said above, nothing to lose.

Re: New owner question..
Great, i will chase it up with the car dealer. It was a private car showroom so legally they do have a liability I'm assuming. Will let you guys know how it goes..

Re: New owner question..
Most dealer adverts normally jave some sort of disclaimer to protect them, but certainly worth a friendly chat as I said
Re: New owner question..
If a phone isn't paired/available, wouldn't the "phone" button just mute the audio regardless?
As cuprabob says - have a look through the DIS menu's for bluetooth.

Re: New owner question..
Bluetooth can be retrofitted by a specialist not a major job when factory navi with voice control is present. Google for "VW Bluetooth retrofit" plenty of different suppliers. DIY fit is possible if you have the tools.sciroccogt10 wrote:If it was a mistake am i right in assuming i cannot do anything about it?
Re: New owner question..
OP - have you checked for the module under the drivers seat yet?

Glad to hear that you got it sorted buddy. Did the garage accept it and give in or did they cause a fuss? The garage I'm dealing with now don't seem to happy to do anything about it, and seem to be avoiding calls. May have to take it up with trading standards...
Is this something (the Bluetooth) is easy to fit in myself? Or shall i get somebody else to do it. I have googled around and found a company that seems to do everythign VAG called Hazzy Days. Not sure if anyone has heard of them.
Many thanks in advance.

There wasnt a disclaimer on the advert at all, nor the invoice. Wouldn't the terms need to be signed for them to be valid?
