MK7 Golf R

Post by Moonhead »

Anyone else seen the new Golf R yet? I'm personally not that keen on the looks of the new Golf but the performance of this baby sounds awesome!

Don't know whether it's just that blue that puts me off. Have to wait and see it in some other colours.

i like the quad exhaust , but for me it looks to much like the new seat leon from the back. specs are fantastic though. and if they price it up right it will be a sure winner

official unveiling pics, i'm hoping this do in carbon steel grey, that combo with some anthracite rims would be understated

Not a fan of the alloys but the rest looks nice, love the aesthetics of a Seat Leon but the interiors always dissapoint me.

Trouble with all these junkit type shots is they use flash on the interior which makes up look ghastly especially those seats

Replacing my beloved Scirocco R with one of these tomorrow, or at least sorting the order/deposit out. Delivery should be Mar 14. DSG, the new blue, 19" Pretoria wheels (look less aftermarket than the 18" Cadiz), pro satnav, winter pack, rear camera (although I'm test driving a GTI tomorrow to see what rear vis is like), DCC. They don't think cars will be available for test until about January, but unless VW massively drop the ball, I can't see this being anything other than a complete hoot.

I immediately dismissed one of these as a possible next car, but somehow I am suddenly gaining interest in the 'R'.

When I test drove a standard GTI back in the summer, it did not feel any more powerful than my current car, despite the extra torque. The R though will be different league. Will ponder on it over the next year or so.

I like it!!! I think the front corners of the spoiler need some lights of some sort. All looks a bit dark

ordered mine over two weeks ago, lapiz blue 3 door, dsg, DCC, 19" pretorias and winter pack

given i had a GTI on weekend test i didn't like the nag and rear view camera is just another thing to go wrong

DCC is in a different league to the previous generation and i think DSG is the way to go

Stage 1 these should do 360-370bhp based on what ABT and MTM are getting on new S3

It doesn't have lights low down as they are cooling ducts

i can't see it being a lemon, some have said S3 suffers some lag but the K04 cars do

Good spec wigit.

Haven't purchased mine yet - Lincoln VW initially offered a low trade-in (bottom of book, then a fierce scaling factor for the period up to delivery, by the looks of things) for the Roc with nothing off the Golf. After a bit of to and fro they told me that they didn't yet know what the 'bonus' was on the Golf and wouldn't find out until Monday. Let's see what Monday brings. Also their demonstrator isn't arriving until April and that's when I could expect a car ordered this week.

Took a test drive in a boggo GTI, which revealed that the quality of the interior is much improved over the Roc, that the exhaust noise of the standard GTI is nonexistent, and that I don't need the reversing camera since rear vis is approximately 3.7 million times better than what I've dealt with for the last three years.

There are deals to be done on these, having specced a GTI and R for the wife we may well be ordering a more door on 18s to replace her GTI as the difference wasn't that great and saves her selling the GTI for an ED40

They called me on Saturday with an improved offer, which I accepted, so I'm now an official Golf waiter. Went with the camera and also added keyless, climate screen and phone prep (plus pretorias, DSG, winter and navpro).
