Maq, what is the part number of your bluetooth module, I'll check it with mine in case there are different codes for different modules which I guess there will be.maq wrote:I know its a basic/silly question, but you did clear the faults after making the coding changes?
The coding I posted for the 7P6 revision L is bang on as far as I am aware, I've used it myself to remove these errors. I'd double check coding, clear errors and try again.
I'm not sure what to suggest next, although I'd be keen to know what software version is running on the CAN gateway.
I wonder if there is a compatibility issue. I assume you've checked that this unit is compatible with the RCD 510? Will go google now, I wonder what kind of MFD/DIS the car has to?

Re: Bluetooth mic got me baffled
Mine is the 7P6, revision L. Coding verified from VCDS label files also... I expect the coding change to fix your error codes, but I'm not sure that would fix the mic having no sound...
Still puzzled around the mic having no sound, maybe you can describe your wiring again from mic, all the way to RNS including pin numbers?

Re: Bluetooth mic got me baffled
Hello guys!
Well, I have read so much on this subject, and I think this may be the final solution even though I havent tried it. I have read, on more than one occassion (5 times), that the mic might be wired incorrectly.
Some say just the mic, others say it's at the bluetooth end... Either way, I think it all follows through really. So on Friday, I am going to take out my harness, chop the mic wires (at the BT end or RCD end) and swap the connectors!
If it works, I will let you know if you want to wait for confirmation.
Feel like I have spammed this forum with my bluetooth Saga, but it will help somebody one day! I don't think there are enough posts detailing the issues with changing out the bluetooth/retrofitting bluetooth on the Roc! I am now wishing I made a photo guide, but I was just caught up in ripping out the old bury unit.
My BT kit is a 7P6 revision L. I think revision M is out now! It all goes by so quickly
EDIT - Just saw another forum (Passat) that talks about the RCD510 not having a Mic out. So if you connect the harness as supplied with a Mic going in - and then going out to the BT device, there will be no output!!!
I took photos of the back of my RCD510, and I must say, it does look like I dont have pins 4 and 9, and this would support that theory! I will have a good look today.
Edit 2: Right, see the picture attached!! Sorry for the poor quality, but if you crosscheck the back of the RCD with the mygti pin assignments, you will notice that pins 4 and 9 are MISSING from the back of the RCD!! This means that no signal will enter the bluetooth unit, hence an open circuit!
I will try and get home earlish today, then connect the mic DIRECT to the bluetooth and see if I have any joy.. If none, then I will have to reverse the polarity of the Mic and see if that sorts it
EDIT 3: Having looked back at the thread, I see dstill has already been connecting his mic direct to the BT module, so this wont be your solution . Your only choice might be to reverse Mic polarity and see if it works

Re: Bluetooth mic got me baffled
Well finally I have got this sorted and only due to the help from you guys on the forum and in particular dimexi, he has been a star and I can't thank him enough.
I had another look at the harness yesterday and checked the pin assignments, the mic wires going into the bluetooth module were originally attached to pins 12 and 13 (as supplied from the ebay seller). As dimexi suggested I moved them to 11 and 12 and it worked a treat. I hope this helps so others who are having a similar problem

Just a quick note, I didn't have to cut any cables to do this, I just gently prised the connectors out and reinserted them.

Re: Bluetooth mic got me baffled
No worries dstill! So glad you got it sorted, I only had my problem for 1 day and I know how much it drove me crazy!
For reference: Quite a bit of the communication between dstill and I was via PM - but ALL possible solutions are documented in this thread for anyone experiencing difficulty in the future. Just read through all pages in the thread and follow relevant links.

Re: Bluetooth mic got me baffled
You need to wire the mic directly into the bluetooth unit not swap pins 11 and 12 round, your rds doesn't have voice activation so there are no pins in the rds for the mic. So the 2 wires from the mic need to be going into pins 11 and 12 of the 54 pin block connector (bluetooth plug) hope this helps :-)nazpatel wrote:Right so I swapped pins 11/12 mic still not working??
