Are the Xenons worth it?
I was just playing the configurator game again tonight
Do you think the Xenons are worth the £845 price?
I've never driven a car with them before. My Puma's projectors as about a good as an AA battery torch that needs new batteries! I'm sure the standard lamps would be a major step up for me anyway but I was just wondering what people think of the xenons.

Re: Are the Xenons worth it?
Well worth the money if you do a lot of night driving out in the sticks where there are few street lamps. I have had cars with both and to be honest for the sort of driving I do, mainly town, I wouldn't spend it.
Re: Are the Xenons worth it?
never tried them at night to gauge the advantage, i'm sure there is one, i don't do enough night drivng on the type of roads to justify the expense and don't think i'd single out a used car for having them, i'm sure once you experience you would be lost without them

As has been said to justify the price it really depends on what sort of driving you do.

Re: Are the Xenons worth it?
I have a Ford with xenon and the Scirocco without xenon (not my choice, is looking for retrofit).
If You drive where there are streetlights, You will not notice the big difference.
But on streets without the streetlights, Your viewing distance without xenon is about 2/3.
Given that breaking distance is times four at double speed, this actually means that You ought to drive at half the speed without xenon, in order to be able to stop within what You can see in the lightbeam.

Re: Are the Xenons worth it?
Oh yes ! For me it is.
I drive a lot of unlit countryroads. On these roads u can definatly see the diverence.
What i also like, is when making a turn, a extra light goes on that shine in the direction u are going.
So like it a lot

Re: Are the Xenons worth it?
I had them on my Polo GTi and they're awesome! I haven't had them on any car I've had since though mainly because of the cost of them as an option (they were standard fit on the Polo). Having said that if I could have ordered them on the Scirocco I would have ticked the box if they'd been available this time round for sure.

Re: Are the Xenons worth it?
They'd have be good to justify the price tag. I'd consider a retro-fit kit. You can buy a quality kit for H7 bulbs for about £100 (not the cheap imports at half the price on ebay). They are easy to fit and you can specify the temperature (colour) of light you want.

I'd be keen to see some photos and a write up of the retro fit lit if anyones going to take it on.
