Couple of questions..

Post by Aaz »

Hi all, first off I am sorry if this has been covered before..

I am looking into getting a 2010 Rocco TDI and would like to know a few things before I go for the one I have seen..

1) is it possible to retrofit bluetooth? If so, how much (roughly) and what bits would I need? It comes with the screen but don't think it has bluetooth.

2) is it possible to retrofit cruise control and electric folding mirrors? Again, if so how much roughly?

3) is sat nav standard on 2010 models or do I need a new head unit for this?

Links to parts would be a great help.

Many thanks.

Hi. All answers are based on the car not having any additional extras put in:

1) Yes, it is possible to retrofit bluetooth. There are 3 options - i) you could get the VW retrofit which rebrands a bury system. An additional small screen will have to be added for this. Google to see what it looks like. ii) You could get a fiscon system which you will have to DIY fit yourself - or contact the fiscon guys on http://www.kufatec.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. iii) You can get the VW bluetooth kit from ebay. Be careful not to buy the old ones that only work using the rsap protocol for nokia phones (almost exclusively).

2) It is possible to retrofit cruise control. It is highly dependent on what kind of climatic controls you have/When your build week was. Take a picture of your climatic controls and post.... There is a cruise control thread that deals with this.
IF you have the older controls, it would be easy to retrofit cruise, and a dealer could do it for it. If you have the later one, it's more difficult and only a few will offer it.
EDIT: See Trix's Post here regarding cruise control

3) Sat nav isnt standard on 2010 models. You will have to upgrade to RNS315 or RNS510.

Thank you for your detailed reply!

Is there many differences between the two climate controls panels on models, is there any reason they are different or is it just for a different look?

I have seen the three circle dials and also the larger rectangular panel on 2009 Sciroccos.

I am not sure of the exact details of the difference, but it must have come with upgrades in the electronics and harnesses, which might have made integrating cruise more awkward
