Removing front grilles?

Post by Justin85 »

Hi,

Has anyone ever removed one of the front side grilles from a 'Roc R?
I would like to remove and refit the nearside one as it's already a bit loose on one side. Do they just clip in? Don't just want to to yank it out - It seems pretty fixed in!

Thanks,
Justin.

they are easy to remove, they are just held in place with some clips.
you will need to jank them a bit hard but.. I had to take mine off on several accounts..

Ahh, let us know how you get on? My nearside is also coming away slightly.. I'm guessing the DRL comes out with the grille

The DRL is attached to the front bumper.
it will not come off with the grill. but the grill goes all the way around the DRL so be careful when you remove it.
that is the only part that is a bit tricky.

Just pull and it will come free the panel is held on a series of moulded lugs depending on how lucky you are these may not break on removal. Even if they break the panel will still go back on as from experience the break will be in the centre of the lug/clip.

Awesome, thanks :)

So will yours clip back on or will you need some new lugs?

That's a spare for winter road use. I've modified my fitted drivers side grill to allow a towing eye (for trackday use) to be installed without removing the grill.

The lugs are moulded onto the grill so you can't replace them, the bumper has tabs that click into the lugs and are of much thicker plastic so won't break when the trim is removed. The lugs being relatively thin give first allowing the trim to be removed. Ideally you would get behind and prise the tab out the lug but without a two post lift and a lot of dismantling that isn't possible.

Thanks for the help!
Popped out with a firm pull. Have now refitted it properly (one of the lugs wasn't engaging) and all is well!
Justin.
