Tyre warning light

Post by BenBAC »

I have just had new front tyres fitted, shortly after I left the garage my tyre warning light came on. I stopped the car checked the pressures and all were ok, I called the garage and they said its common on the newer VW's when you change the tyres. Anyway I read the manual and it advised I go in the glove box and press the tyre button to reset this, unfortunately this button doesn't appear to be working at all, it feels rater loose. I have therefore booked the car in at a VW dealership to have this looked at, is there any other way to sort it out without having to go in? I have looked through the computer and there isn't an option within the menu to reset it either.

If it's best I'll go to the dealer, just wanted to check if there is anything I can do to save a journey to them.

Thanks

If you have VCDS you can reset TPMS there

Not got VCDS, I thought you may be able to do this is I had it, may take the glove box out and have a look at this button.

I'm sure you've done this this but with the ignition on, you need to press and hold the button until you hear a "chime" and the warning light goes out. Takes approx. 2 to 3 secs.

Mine didn't beep or anything. Just turned off the engine and let the ignition be on, pushed the buttom for some seconds and then the icon disappeared.

I pressed it in for 20 seconds or more and the light stayed on, quite frustrating because its such a simple thing.

I have fixed the issue, for some strange reason the switch had nothing connected to the back, when I loosened the glove box a small rubber thing fell out. Anyway I connected it all back up and switched on the ignition and hey presto the chime went off followed by the warning light, job well done I think :-).
