Bye Scirocco... hello Beetle!

Post by Chillout »

The Beetle is basically the same car as the Scirocco, underneath her clothes.. so when the Roc had to go, and the Beetle was released, I just wanted one!

So here she is, pictures taken by the dealer a few days before I got her:

Mods done:
- 17" Porsche Fuchs rims
- eibach lowering ~40mm
- 2cm spacers all around
- K&N induction kit (still need to create a heatshield solution, although for some reason heat soak is less than I used to have with my Roc)

Planned mods:
- chiptuning
- empty cat
- vcds stuff
- R-exhaust (was planned to be delivered, but is not there yet)
- i will try darkening vinyl on the rear lights and Carbon Fibre vinyl on the mirrors

I hope you like it. I'm getting loads of response on the rims already. Someone even asked me (for real!): why would Porsche put a VW logo on their car... or isn't this a Porsche? Wheel spacers are about to be ordered :)

first update:

The modding continues!Installing the 2cm spacers on all wheels

little joke ;) with fake Brembo cover that will NOT be on the car.

and the final result :)

more pics as soon as she's clean again!

New Beetle is much better than the previous incarnation.

Really suits those Fuchs wheels.

Looks really nice. Quite tempted by the turbo edition as my next car.

I used to be a huge original beetle fan and when they started making the new ones I was quite disgusted.
The latest beetle shape is really nice though. This is how it should've been done before!
Car looks a beast!

It's been a while... but I'm still around, modding my Beetle.

So far these are all changes I did:

- Lowered 40mm
- Fuchs rims are back after the winter!
- Red calipers
- 20mm spacers all around
- Custom-made Porsche-style quadruple exhaust
- Various VCDS tweaks
- TMC Motorsports tuningbox
- Forge Short Shifter
- Emptied pre-cat
- Custom made "warm air intake" (filter on a stick), soon to be replaced by a self-made ram-air intake which should enable cool air
- Tinted fog lights in yellow

So I took some pics...warning... lots of them ;)

My custom made intake is almost done... All that's left is add the lid to the front, and connect it to the bumper intake:

The intake is done:

Works like a charm. Less hissing-noise, and according to the OBD2-readings, the air stays a bit cooler, when the car is at a standstill. If anyone is interested, I can write a guide how to built this yourself.
