Fitting Cruise Control

Post by Lewis1982 »

Hi, How easy is it to fit cruise control to a 59 plate scirocco GT TDI?
The car has got a MFD Display which I believe makes it easier, and I have bought the stalk from VW.
Any help or advise would be appreciated

Thanks, Steven

Steven

all cars have the mfd display, its the air con controls that define the build week which will tell you how easy it is to fit & what parts you need

which air con controls has it got from this post? left or right?

left (cheap) read http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... 20#p113090" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

right (expensive) read the rest of that thread in my first link (2010 cruise control)

This is strange - my car was registered in May 2009 and has the old air con controls but newer steering wheel. Both my local dealers say that CC can't be fitted to this car yet. One had given me a price to do it but I asked them how long it would take to fit so they called VW technical support who said it can currently only be fitted to cars built before week 10 in 2009. Apparently the kits for later cars will be available in late July. From reading this forum I believe my car can have CC fitted now but could it be VW are giving the dealers wrong information? Is there anywhere else I could have this done?

I had the same response from my local dealer.. firstly kits were on back order, then they were saying its not possible due to 'technical issues', seemed to be no 100% certain answer.. I ended up getting a professional retrofits company to install and couldn't be happier.

I went with Hazzy Dayz, who I can recommend based on the work they did for me which even included coming out to my place of work to do the install. Very happy to have cruise fitted after a year+ of waiting for an opportunity via my dealer.

Hi, as a newbie I was slightly phased by fitting cruise to my recent purchase of a Roc 2.0 TSI. I could see from some great posts that my model, 59 reg was able to be retro fitted with relative ease. Anyway, took the plunge and took my time but now have fully installed and working cruise for £52./ This was the price of a genuine new part from an Ebay shop. I have VCDS and have only used it to diagnose and clear faults till now, but again due to some great info here was able to code it no probs, both Engine / Steering wheel.
Many thanks to those who put the information up. One post does need correction though. The centre nut on the wheel is not 12mm but M12 size...yep they are different.
Looking forward to more Mods now with extra confidence gained !!!
