VW Racing Cold Air Induction

Post by GOTG1RTH »

Evening all me again

So got my new induction kit on Monday :). Was umming and arrring whether or not to get the VWR one or the Carbonio. But I think iv made the right decision but don't no anyone with one for a comparison and I'm not buying one just to try it lol.

So my verdict for anyone thinking of buying one:
Throttle response greatly improved
Access to power band hits around 4/500 rpm as it states on Apr's website.
Brilliant noise on half and full throttle
Kick down roar is much deeper
Nice waste gate noise.
In high revs turbo sounds lovely

Overall gd mod. Worth the money? No I don't think so maybe it's high price as its re-usable who knows

£345 is very steep but if your happy with it then its all good.
Must admit I do prefer even the whole design/look.

Yeah it is steep. But I think it was worth it and it's an approved VW part came with a certificate of authenticity aswell which shocked me. That's probably where the price tag lies (in the name)

it is not an approved VW part, it is an approved Volkswagen Racing part who have no formal tie in with Volkswagen Group in the UK, therefore is deemed a modification by your dealer

the intakes are made by ITG, VWR took out an exclusivity deal last year on these, price used to be £250 plus VAT before the deal was struck, great piece of kit, i ran the development kit on my rocco

design is based on what ITG ran on some BTCC cars

Thanks for the info wigit. :).

So as is deemed as a mod by dealers will this effect my servicing and warranty?
Can I still leave it in when it goes bk to VW this month for service

What other mods have you done to your rocco wigit?
Intercooler or exhaust system? Both from APR?

I am looking into getting one of these myself and was looking for an advice.
VW Racing website has 3 models listed. As I have 1.4 160ps model, that would mean I have to look into 'R12G614 Scirocco/Golf 6 1.4 TSI (twincharged)'. I was wondering since when is my Scirocco suddenly twincharged? Or is it for Golf 6? Also their website has no webshop to buy from. Where could I buy one? I checked their 'Find dealer' section and they come up with some local shops in my area but their websites are absolute mess. Besides, I could order it online somewhere and fix it myself. VW Racing website states that this would be classed as mod, so I am legally bound to notify my insurance company. I wonder how much premium if any they would charge me? I'm not worried about warranty of the car, as it expires soon anyway, and I am done doing servicing in VW dealership.
One more thing: what about ECU flash. VW Racing suggest to flash it, but is it really required if I am using my car just for daily driving? Would skipping ECU flash affect my engine or anything else in a bad way?
Sorry for so many questions and for reviving an old thread :)
