No Bluetooth - Scirocco R

Post by J-tec »

Hey everyone,

I've just picked up my dream Scirocco R, in Rising Blue, pretty much fully loaded except NO BLUETOOTH! It's about 6 months old, with about 3k kilometers, and I don't know how anyone could not choose bluetooth when they're ticked almost every box on the configurator, but anyway.. :)

Here's whats in it in terms of radio options:

RNS 510
Multifunction steering wheel (with phone and voice activation)
Full color MFD
When I push the phone button on the RNS 510, it just mutes the music if its on

So the question is: What do I need to install bluetooth in the car, and what is the process to do so?

I've looked under my driver seat and see no bluetooth module - unless its under the carpet? After searching through some threads, I believe I'll need to buy this bluetooth module? 5N0 035 730 D (2011)

I realize that there is no proper DIY for such an install, and would love to make one for the Scirocco Community. I've done numerous DIY's on VWVortex (you can search for J-tec on there) in the past and would love to continue them here. :)

Thank you guys in advance!!

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan :welcome:

Your car looks great !!

As i can see your Scirocco is LHD. So bluetooth module (if your car has one) is located under passenger seat - above the carpet into a foam cover.

I believe that the easiest way for you is to buy a complete Bluetooth kit. Something like this http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-k ... id417.html.
About which version, I think that you must select the one with the newest software.
Installation is not so difficult. Take a look here http://www.carsystems.home.pl/instrukcj ... f%20VI.pdf.
The instructions are for Golf MK6 but it’s the same for the Scirocco.

I'm really interested in updating my bluetooth to this latest version, but don't seem to be able to find any information about the coding for this unit. Does anyone have any information on the long coding?

I'm intending to replace myself, so would have to buy and not be able to figure it out :)

I believe that in case of just updating your bluetooth module, there is no need to recode anything. It is already coded and addressed to your CAN Gateway. You have just to unplug the old module and plug the new one. As it says here http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-m ... id495.html : "The installation is very easy - just replace the modules"

Haha, brilliant.

Are they a winter wheel? I ask because ive seen a few European R's wearing those wheels and not the usual 5 (three spoke) wheels.
RS5, Scirocco R. You can never have enough R's
