Service Package?

Post by TurboTrev »

Did anyone manage to buy a service package when they bought their car? When you buy a new Polo or a Golf you can buy 3 years servicing for £225. I asked about this, but I was told it was not available on Sciroccos. Seems a bit odd seeing you can even buy it for the new GTI Golf?

For the various 3 year packs I was quoted around:-
- £600 for service
- £850 for service + maintenance
- £1350 for service + maintenance + tyres

I do around 8000 miles per year, can anyone think how much any of these packages are actually worth? Somehow I doubt I'll be going for it, unless servicing is well over £200 per service (and I pick the 1 year/10k service intervals!)
Has anyone had a 1st service bill yet???
And has anyone had a better quote for these packages? - I've got 7 days after delivery to decide...

This is what I've been given by the VW salesperson. If this is true for my 8k miles per year, then it's a rather scary maintenance sum for something which is in warranty!
I have spoken to my service department and the servicing and maintainence costs for three years are as follows.

- Annual Service 1 - £230
- Annual service 2 - £275
- Annual Service 3 - £240
- Brake Fluid - £75
- A/C Service - £99
- Tyres x4 - £350
- Front Pads - £150
- Rear Pads - £150
- Front Discs - £140
- RAC Cover 2nd, 3rd Year - £205
- Mot Cost - £53
- Consumables - £40

This all comes to £2007. As you can see you would be saving a considerable amount if you were to get everything done that should be in the first three years of your vehicles life.
Any comments?
Am I better off simply going for the long life service intervals and getting the car serviced every 2 years? - I do around 8k miles per year 50% town driving, and 50% motorway, and I don't tend to drive hard to often.

I think you will be just looking at one of the three annuanl service charges, depending on mileage. The other items are servicing thats required at given intervals, like brake fluid every three years for example.

wow you guys have it hard you have to buy a service package as an extra, in switzerland Vw include 10years or 100 000km in the price mind you have have to pay for oil which i think is pretty standard. Then again the scirocco is more expensive here with a slightly lower spec.
