Yes it seems nice
For sure i can tell you that Scirocco does not need any control module for the rear view camera.

Re: Cheap genuine reversing camera?!
So with this kit (once installed) it would show on the RNS unit after VCDS recoding mate?

Yes after the installation, every time you will select reverse gear, RNS will show this screen (no matter if RNS is powered ON or OFF)

Re: Cheap genuine reversing camera?!
Another question (if I may jump on the back), rather than mess about with the on-board supply control unit (to supply the reverse switched power), is it possible to pick up the earth, live and reverse switched live from the reverse light bulb harness in the rear light cluster, just leaving the RNS-510 cable and connector to run forward from the boot ?

Re: Cheap genuine reversing camera?!
Yes, you can run forward only the 26-pin connector for the RNS and pick up earth and reverse switched live (+12V) from the tail lights harness.
But how about constant live (+12V) ? You need to find a point to pick it up, as tail lights are not provide it. If you have rear parking sensors fitted, you can pick it from the connector of their module (It is located under the right tail light).

Re: Cheap genuine reversing camera?!
Hope you have better luck than me mate, had genuine vw reversing camera installed last year by the dealers, not worked at all, no one knows where the fault lies spent a fortune at different auto technicians trying to find the problem also a second camera was tried,

Re: Cheap genuine reversing camera?!
No Giannis, That was about the only thing that we didn't try, dealers wouldn't take a RNS unit out a new to model to eliminate that being the fault also at the time there wasn't one fitted in any of there second hand ones either. plus i got the feeling they weren't very enthusiastic about trying this procedure. / But i was and still very grateful for all your help and enthusiasm in troubleshooting mate.

Re: Cheap genuine reversing camera?!
I didn’t expect from dealers to remove a unit either from a new or from a second hand car, in order to assist you with your problem.
My idea was to check your unit on someone else’s car, which had already rear view camera fitted or the opposite (to check your car installation with his unit).
Anyway it is a pity to hear that after all the money that you spent, you didn’t manage to enjoy your camera…![Frown :(](./images/smilies/frown.gif)

Or from the power socket in the boot. Not permanent live but ignition switched live which should be OK.GiannisA wrote:Yes, you can run forward only the 26-pin connector for the RNS and pick up earth and reverse switched live (+12V) from the tail lights harness.

Don't do what the local Vauxhall dealer did to my mate's car when they were fitting reversing sensors. They took the power from the reversing light (OK) but earthed them through the rear lights. As a a consequence he ended up with reversing sensors which wouldn't work in the dark ...... when he had the lights on

If you still have it you can try it on my RNS unit if it helps.

Re: Cheap genuine reversing camera?!
Yeah, i left the camera on the car as didn't see any point in removing it also had it painted ect, Think the rear camera is a super feature when it works. Mine for a split second when you engage reverse gear looks like it's going to work but then goes back to parking sensor mode /
Mystery

Re: Cheap genuine reversing camera?!
Thats a shame mate, if it was taken off the car i would have tried it on my RNS and bought it off you if it worked ok and was only faulty due to your head unit.

Yeah, appreciate that mate, hopefully sometime in the future i can try the camera on another head unit, even just to put my mind at rest

Re: Cheap genuine reversing camera?!
Although the head unit works 100% for satnav and the parking sensors, it doesn't for rear camera, does anyone know of someone who specialises in repairs to these units ?

Re: Cheap genuine reversing camera?!
Perhaps you are using OPS parking sensors that use the RNS rather than just beeps(?) so it over rides the camera.
Either that or they share the same live and perhaps is not enough amps so may need a central red live.
Or that it still requires you to enter the VCDS code as advertised on the one in Ireland on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-original- ... 1c3132320d" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Else you may need the RNS software updated.
I also found here some RCD510 don't support aftermarket RCV (rear camera view) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-lo ... 2a22966e31" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also states about the rear volts here.
I also seen RGB models for the RCD but VGA for the RNS because of their different resolutions.
Would the non-genuine cameras work with the RNS/RCD510? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SONY-CCD-Rear ... 3a72e8d0ab" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
