RNS510 Nav question

Hi. After years of using ToMTom and Garmin devices stuck to the windscreen I have aN RNS 510 in my new Scirocco. Interesting device but not particularly intuitive I think. If I am inputting a standard postcode with 6 characters as a New Destination it seems ok but when I attempt a 5 character one like N2 ABC (example) it won't allow me to achieve this as it blanks out the characters I require. The book is written in a tech language that I don't readily understand. Can nobody tell me if there is a simple solution that I might try? Many thanks in advance and apologies for my ignorance in VWspeak.

Make sure you put the space in manually when entering a short postcode! Otherwise it thinks the second number is part of the first block (e.g. LA1 1.. would look like LA11 to the Sat Nav... then it wouldn't let you put anything else in).
