RNS510 track name glitch
I never knew a minor little glitch could annoy me so much and was wondering if anyone else has the same problem?
Got my Ipod connected up to my RNS-510 with the proper cable. If I nudge the track on one song then the next songs name comes on properly however the song after that does not come up and the screen just displays the song on before it. Next song it reverts back and works fine.......
Any ideas?

Don't know how old your car or MDI unit is, but maybe try updating the software on the MDI unit in the centre console ?
Download the updated software from VW Germany's website here (right at the bottom of the page):
http://www.volkswagen.de/de/servicezube ... ungen.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Then put on a USB stick, connect to the MDI via the USB (rather than the Ipod cable) and if the software is newer, it should ask if you want to update. It's cured some problems on mine a while back.
Just a thought..........

I've followed that link but none of the updates seem to be for the RNS 510 unit?

Re: RNS510 track name glitch
It's the "Media In" one you want at the bottom. Although your Ipod displays and plays through the RNS, it's the MDI In (in the armrest) that actually does the controlling, so it's that you need to update, not the RNS.
The MDI is a completely separate module to the RNS, and has it's own address in VCDS (Address 2E: Media Player 3). The latest software on the VW website is SW240, which may be newer than yours ?

Re: RNS510 track name glitch
I have this exact same issue when using Spotify with my RNS315 - and yes, it's very annoying!
However, I'm using the Bluetooth connection rather than the Media cable - so would the same update be required?
I'll get the file downloaded and see if it improves matters tomorrow

From the looks of the PDF in Sootchucker's link, you can get a mini-USB cable to plug into the MDI. Never knew that!

Yes, you should have been supplied with the car from new. One USB cable and one Ipod Cable.
This is the one:

Re: RNS510 track name glitch
From further investigation, my issue actually seems related to the iPhone?
After falling into the usual situation of the media display showing the incorrect track information to what was playing, I actually looked at my phone and realised this was also incorrect on the lock screen. Therefore this seems to actually be a problem either with the iPhone music player, or with the Spotify app I use - and not the RNS/media input.
The OP might want to check the same :/

Mine doesn't seem that easy unfortunately, its showing the correct name! And the software on that German site is a lower number than what I currently have on mine

Re: RNS510 track name glitch
Just to remove myself from this issue - I've located my version of this problem to be caused by Spotify.

If I was to update the firmware then would it delete the maps?

Re: RNS510 track name glitch
Updating the MDI firmware does not affect the RNS as it has its own module so just updates that. The RNS will remain exactly as you left it.
I downloaded the file, put it on a USB plugged it in, pressed play button on the RNS510 media section, 60 seconds later problem solved. I have a RNS510 D unit I think.
