Here's a question for the guys running the VW Racing inlet/air filter on their R's - is it possibly with a sensible amount of dremmel action to retain the engine top cover?
I've done my research into the intakes available and it appears the only one that would enable the cover to stay in place is the Carbonio from APR but that particular intake doesn't seem as if it would offer any gains over the standard inlet with a performance filter fitted.
The VWR intake looks the best design and has been proven to work but I need to keep the top cover in place, living in Dubai causes problems with dust and sand building up on the engine, this is easy enough to clean off the big plastic cover but would be an absolute nightmare to clean off the exposed engine and will possibly cause problems with sand ingress somewhere it's not supposed to be.
Many thanks

Re: VW Racing Inlet/Filter
I remember i read something about this for a while ago but dont remember if it was possible with the VWR intake
Maybe it was, like you say, with the APR kit it works!
But hey, go and buy a used cover and try!
Should be pretty cheap to find a cover on ebay or so.
But i will make some research and see if i find the info again.

I'm not 100% on this so you'd have to do a bit of checking but I believe the audi tts cover fits and allows the fitment of the vwr kit. It would mean the audi logo under your bonnet, if that bothers you, but would solve the problem.James321 wrote:Here's a question for the guys running the VW Racing inlet/air filter on their R's - is it possibly with a sensible amount of dremmel action to retain the engine top cover?

Re: VW Racing Inlet/Filter
tts fits providing you get the correct fixing bits, otherwise a few have attacked with a dremmel
carbonio is mainly a fancy bit of carbon replacing the air box and a panel filter

That was my thoughts on the Carbonio, didn't see how it could improve performance over the standard setup when all it does is switch one component from plastic to carbon.
Ok, thanks for the heads up on the TTS cover, is there anything in particular I need to order with it to make it fit or is it just the usual rubber legs that plug into the cover and head?
