Side panel loose ? Not impressed . Help ?
Can anybody shed some light on this please ? The panel has become loose for some reason think clips might be missing ? To have this problem on a 17,000 pound car ? I'm not impressed to say the least .
Appreciate any help

Is the clip in the A frame itself ?, as you probably know it should be in the plastic bit at the end, pull it out of the frame and put it in its proper location then bang it back in after locating it properly.
How old is it ?, looks like someone has taken it off to do something ?, maybe add Bluetooth, and they didnt know how to ut it back on properly ?, you can hardly blame VW build quality if this is the case !

Looks like you are a clip missing. The position nearest the camera in the bottom photo should have a wedge clip (VW Part: 5N0 880 385) which is different to the other two clips with grommet (VW Part: 3C0 867 333) further into the photo. It slides onto the slot nearest the camera.
The previous owner may have had a phone mic fit wired in from behind that trim and carelessly removed it, loosing the wedge clip in the process. Normally the little Airbag plastic cap (VW Part: 1K8 853 437) visible from the outside near the top edge is removed carefully and a Philips Head screw driver put in the hole to engage the wedge and then lever the screwdriver handle upwards towards the sunblind to release the cover. VW recommend the cap (1K8 853 437) is replaced if removed bearing mind the panel contains an airbag and a damaged cap may not do what its supposed to do if the airbag goes off.
Maybe the wedge clip has flown off and is somewhere inside the car still (under the seats) or further down towards the bottom of the A pillar inside the lower trim (footwell).

I sympathise with you mate but you're not alone. Although I love my Scirocco it's the worst car I've had for build quality in relation to rattles etc in the cabin.

RW1 i highly suspect that the clip is still located in the frame itself and has popped out of the plastic trim as mostly happens when you remove the trim.

Have a look in the A pillar, there will possibly be a springy clip in it (it should just be painted metal), save you going to the dealers.

thanks Shaun . I've now fixed it , as you said the metal clip was jus loose further down the a pillar , managed to slot into back into the holder and then clipped it into the hole in the a pillar , one half of the slot did unfortunately snap off but does seem to be holding the trim secure now , thanks so much for your help . Tis one hell of a distance the dealers as well , many thanksShaun wrote:Have a look in the A pillar, there will possibly be a springy clip in it (it should just be painted metal), save you going to the dealers.

I try to fix little bits like this as the dealers tend to cause more damage than they fix !
