Tail Light Awash

Past few times I've washed my car, I've noticed an increading amount of condensation, and now pooled water inside one of the tail lights. I fitted a pair of genuine new and boxed "R" tail lights just under three years ago. On closer inspection it looks like the lens has separated from the body of the light unit, allowing water that finds its way into the groove between the light unit and the bodywork above the tail light to just run inside.

Has anyone else had problems with lenses separating from their tail lights?

Might the light be covered under their own warranty, less that three years old, or on the car's VW Extended warranty?

Not an unknown problem with the tailights, couple on here have reported leaks (not splittiing though). If you bought via the VW dealer parts department, parts have a 2 year stand alone warranty.

Thanks for your quick reply. I've missed the "2 Year" window on the purchase of the parts. As they're genuine parts, bought through a dealer, might they be covered by the extended warranty?

I've washed the faulty unit out, a bit of corrosion on the bulb carrier but not too bad. If they won't replace then it'll have to be the clear silicone, or maybe some hot-glue.

You can only but try with the Extended with a big smile! No sure but its a like-for-like original build.
