RNS510 - Re-boot options?

Post by Mark V »

My RNS510 is working perfectly after DIY retro-fit, I have coded the car to allow the display to appear in the MDF but have failed at the last hurdle - the re-boot. I am trying to do this with the unit on, pressing both <> buttons and the star button together, waiting 30 seconds but it just stays on - this is really frustrating and not a problem I have seen anyone else raise... what other options are there - does removing the unit from the car and re-installing it do the same thing as a re-boot?

Thanks...

Hi Shaun, Its May 2011. The usual source - Ebay... but through a London based seller with 100% feedback over last 12 months. Apart from being unable to re-boot it, it seems fine but of course that could be a time bomb for the future.

The reason your trying to reboot is to get it to display in the MFD ?, does it not come straight on the MFD ?, mine didnt need to be rebooted, what was coded on the RNS ?

Hi Shaun, I coded Can Gateway (19) by selecting both navigation 37 and radio 56 (this may not be correct, perhaps it should have only 37 ticked as its the same unit?). I then went in to the controllers for Navigation and radio, coding, long coding helper and ticked the 'Small button steering wheel controls' (sorry that wording is from memory) and also ticked 'BAP enabled' in both 37 and 56.

The concensus of opinion on the foruma seems to be that a re-boot is required but would be great if I can get around this issue.

Thank you for your interest in assisting - much appreciated :-)

I think I will go and review these selctions again and confirm them....

Hi Shaun,

Unbelievable - just checked through all coding - turned the 510 on again and it all works as it should through the MFD - navigation and Audio... !

I think your positive vibe did it - the force is strong in you :-)

Thanks again mate,
