Yup, just specced one out at 28k for what I'd like. For that money I could get a 6 month old BMW 330d M Sport Coupe. Tough choice....

Do you think the new GTI will be faster than the Scirocco? I reckon the Scirocco still is the quicker around a track with its wider track.
Can't really see the point of a GTI unless you have kids and buy the 5 door.

Yeah, spec for spec it's about £2-3k more than the Scirocco! That and if you needed 5 doors then there's an awful lot of really nice cars (especially if you're willing to go for something 6-12 months old) you could have for less than the £25k the GTi costs. Audi S3/Impreza STi/etc. Not impressed with the current choice of metallic colours on the Golf GTi at the moment either. At the same time I'm pretty glad they're keeping Rising blue as a Scirocco only colour though :D I think they're probably not making it available mainly because it's so close to the Deep Blue Metallic which will probably be exclusing the the Golf R20 when it's released.

If I wanted a fast hatch, needed 5 doors and lived in Britain I'd get the new Focus RS. What a monster! :hyper:

Have you also noticed if you spec the RCD510/Dynaudio it removes the MDI and to get it back you have to pay £300+ for your trouble. They are having a laugh with the whole pricing structure for this car. Also no new alloy wheel options and unless i am mistaken only one new colour to choose from. Carbon Grey..
Makes our cars seem even more of a bargain.

Checkout the configurator on the German website, you can order a GTI in almost any colour for €1600. Shame this flexibility hasn't filtered through to the UK or onto the Roc as some of the colours make Viper Green look boring. :eyepop: Not that i'd go for this one!
purplegti.JPG
I specced a GTi to the same as my Roc, came to £29,000 without Xenons as they are not an option as of yet. Include the Xenons and you will be nudging £30,000 which is £6000 more than i paid for the Roc. It's a nice looking motor but why such a premium over the Roc? Presume there will be some discounts on the table.

Really don't like the look of the new car.... Just looks wrong from almost every angle.

They've even cocked up the MK6 front grill which looks much nicer in standard form.

No thanks!

Oh just ordered an S3.... Almost went with the Scirocco but I want the easy remap to 320bhp and Quattro power :)

Good Choice

I can't help but feel they're priced themselves out of the market this time round when spec-for-spec it's only a couple of grand more for an S3. I think I could have seen the point if they'd given you things like ACC, Xenons, 18" Alloys,RCD500,etc as standard but as soon as you add them as options it takes the already steep price of the car up to ludicrous amounts of cash for a 200bhp FWD hatchback! I mean you can buy a Focus ST or a Civic Type-R for around £5k less!

also noticed that nav for scirocco is £1200, whereas on the GTi it's only available with the CD changer for a whopping £1800, that's a lot of cash!!

They have lost the plot on pricing, think the new model is colour sensitive as well and looks a bit slabby (press release shots of the GTD for instance), heaven help us who much the R20 will be, there is always the its a grower factor and reckon people on leases with still go for it when they have to hand their GTIs back and have to change, remember when the Mk5 GTI came out you couldn't get a discount at all, intersting how much they will be knocking off this time around given the climate.
