Picked up a new 2L Tsi Dsg 2 weeks ago, I have previously owned a 1.4 Tsi Scirocco, anyway I have done 600 miles and I've just done a brim to brim check which is working out at 27 mpg (mfd indicating 29.4).
I was hoping to get around the 35 mpg, admittedly the car is driven in a lot of traffic 10 mile commute each way.
Love the car and at the moment I'm running it in, will this improve after a couple of thousand miles and the mpg get up to mid 30's?
Different DSG/engine but mine made my heart sank during the early stages at 28mpg in the first couple of thousands of miles. It settled out around 5k to 7k miles with returns improving to 35mpg in similar driving circumstances when compared. Short journeys are problematical as outside air temperature has a strong influence due to no prolonged normal temperature running to balance out the increase fuel useage at lower temperatures.
And the MFD indicates roughly that difference. Can be adjusted with VCDS to get it more accurate but only within a specific tolerance spread. Not bothered with mine as short journeys the error is marked but longer trips it can be bob on.
NB. Keep an eye on the engine oil level during the first 5k miles while you bed it in
C.

Mine is a 2.0 litre petrol (albeit the older 200PS variant) and I can acheive an easy 35 mpg without trying to hard. 42 mpg or fractionally more is possible when ambling along in 6th at 50mph, but it does get boring.
The newer 210PS, I think is fractionally more efficient so those figures should be easily achieved once run in.

I have 160 DSG and love it. MPG is not great around town; about 28, but I only do 8 miles to work and 8 back in town so cant really complain as car doesnt heat up fully on such a short journey. Gets mid / high 30s on a good run out of town. Only do about about 8k pa so mpg not a major issue for me. Love the car.

I had a 160 manual a couple of years ago which was knocking out 36 on the same journey, will see how it goes over the next couple of thousand miles.
Options: multifunction steering wheel, fogs, 18" alloys; DAB; XDS activated, DRLs reset, lock beep activated; indicator repeat set to 4; covered cup holder, rear seat 12v socket installed. metal pedals, 210 Golf GTi also in the stable. Scirocco gone - miss it. Polo GTI now.
Got a manual TSi 210 golf and after the first 3000 miles the mpg average settled at 36mpg but can get over 40 on a motorway run at 70 ish (but most cars go past then!). The 160 only averages about 37/38 overall and is only marginally better (sometimes) at 43 than the 210 on a motorway run at 70ish. Big difference around town though. Mileage should improve after a couple of thousand miles.
I have been doing a lot of stop/start town journeys this afternoon. Noticed my MFD was reading approx 34mpg which is not too bad for a 2.0 TSI. I am also running supermarket 95RON fuel in it, as that was all I could get last time.
It should improve to mid 30's once the engine is bedded in, but even then that assumes a light right foot and careful use of the gears and so on (no rapid acceleration). At the moment, constant use of wipers, a/c, headlights, de-mister and so on is probably conspiring against you to get much more mpg at this stage.
Well I decided to check the tyre pressures yesterday (had the car 3 weeks), all tyres were 1.7 bar instead of 2.5 (19" wheels), noticed an immediate improvement in economy on the following journey. Bl**dy stealers are a complete waste of space
(mfd indicating 29.4).
