How much have I been offered for my Scirocco?
Bought my car brand new in late January 2009 - 58 reg GT 2.0TSI manual, completely standard other than black pearl paint and reversing sensors and I asked my dealer if he would buy it back off me (long story). How much do you reckon I was offered?

I'd say very close to the figure which webuyanycar.com would give you. I agree, those tissues will come in handy!
I lost around 8k in 8 months on my current car from new when shopping in for my 2.0TSI. Horrifying numbers, but then as they all say new cars are such wste of money

Re: How much have I been offered for my Scirocco?
My guess.. £15,000?
List Price £22,000 minus 10% discount, minus 15% VAT = £16830
minus around £2000 for dealer margin = £15,000.
He can then put it on the forecourt for £18-19k and have around 1-2k haggling space...
Was it a good guess???

Yeah I was going to have a stab at £16,000 ish. They can then stick it on the forecourt at 19 and wait for bites.

I'd be surprised if it's much over £15k. I'll go for £14750 and a sob story from the dealer.....

Yeah my guess will be at the lower end of £14000 - I'll be shocked if its less but not surprised since its a stealer.drnick wrote:I'd be surprised if it's much over £15k. I'll go for £14750 and a sob story from the dealer.....
I would be shocked if they said £10-12k!
A couple of months ago I saw my £25k car worth £14k on "webuyanycars" - at those prices who wouldn't "buy any car"? Anyhoo, they sent me an email last month saying great the value of your car has gone up we can now offer you £15k! lol

£16,000?
My mate has just had to sell his TTS Roadster due to a change of circumstances. Lost over nine grand in eight months, £1000+ per month on a car with suposedly great residuals! It was Black with 19's so very saleable. Not looking forward to my meeting with HR at 08:30 tomorrow morning, might end up having to sell mine too.

No prizes, but jc74 was spot on - almost like he had inside information!! I thnk I'll try webuyanycar.com, just out of curiosity.jc74 wrote:My guess.. £15,000?

Crazy, and when the car first came out in Sep, they were predicting an average re-sale value of £12k after 3 years...

I'm sure you'd get a couple of k more privately, and it should sell quick, since autotrader only has trade ones for sale at considerably more.TurboTrev wrote: No prizes, but jc74 was spot on - almost like he had inside information!! I thnk I'll try webuyanycar.com, just out of curiosity.
Still, a horrible amount of depreciation to suffer, but I seem to be doing this regularly myself.

Re: How much have I been offered for my Scirocco?
To be honest given another couple of years of price increases I think you probably will get around £12k for a 3 year old one with average miles/spec. You always lose most of the value of a new car in the first year of ownership (in fact right after driving it off the forecourt TBH)! That and if you go to a dealer and ask them to buy a car without p/x'ing for another one they're bound to offer you £1-2k less than the 'real' market value as they need a buffer for the time it may take them to sell it.robrob wrote:Crazy, and when the car first came out in Sep, they were predicting an average re-sale value of £12k after 3 years...
Re: How much have I been offered for my Scirocco?
I hazard a guess you have not taken the dealer up on his offer!

Re: How much have I been offered for my Scirocco?
Shame I don't have the patience of waiting, I would of offered you £15100 for it and I would of saved myself over 5k on the price of a new one
Good job (work permitting) I am not planning to sell mine anytime soon............

Re: How much have I been offered for my Scirocco?
Correct, no way is the dealer making £3-4K at my expense, just as well I'm not desperate to sell! I reckon I could keep it a year and still get around £15k for it with say 5k miles on the clock. I think privately it's currently got the be worth £17,995?mister.c. wrote:I hazard a guess you have not taken the dealer up on his offer!
