Petrol or Diesel?

Post by beechy »

Hi all buddy scirroco fans

Noticed the diesel models went onto the vw website last week, contemplating going for the 2.0 TDi diesel now, £500 cheaper surprisingly but only 140 BHP? anyone driven this engine in the golf? Worked out that on my 12000 miles of yearly motoring and using the average mpg for both models and the current difference in price of petrol and diesel probably only save me about £500 a year plus the £50 for tax. Is that worth it over a quiter more powerfull engine. I think with the extra noise it may even ruin the princpal of going for dyno audio too???

opinions please as I`m stuck on choice

Regards

Drove the 140 in an EOS and I wasnt impressed - reasonably gutless IMHO - however have been driving the 170 unit in an Octavia VRS for over a year and that is a great engine. Its a shame they didnt release the 170 unit - I guess they thought the 140 would appeal to the economy conscious.

Good luck deciding.
