thinking of a change... opinions needed!
Re: thinking of a change... opinions needed!
Aston looks the best (just) simply due to its's compact dimensions. The reviews about the power are it could handle more (hence the v12) but the noise of the V8 is simply fantastic - tried one on a track day and have seen several of them being driven enthusiastically around Leeds city centre of all places - the noise bouncing off the office buildings was great ! There's a quick mod which you can do (remove exhaust fuse) which leaves the valves open all the time - its on you tube somewhere.
Maser - pass one of these everyday on way in to work - it looks good and sounds nice - but seems a bit heftier and not as lithe as the Aston.

Maserati Hands down
Re: thinking of a change... opinions needed!
Must admit I am not particularly taken in by the new S3. The exterior looks more like a tarted up A1 (although I do like the quad 'zorsts) and the interior is a bit too Corsa VXR! :/
Meh.. maybe it will grow on me.

If you're looking at any Aston, take a look at any of the Jaguar XK specs. Looks slightly better, performance is similar and probably cheaper than the Aston..

But it isn't a Aston
Re: thinking of a change... opinions needed!
jag f type is the real winner for me. but its a complete arm and a leg.
considering a 2nd hand vantage, but worried about the running costs of getting one 2nd hand (servicing / replacement parts etc.)
.. still waiting on the cayman.

Re: thinking of a change... opinions needed!
My wife has a 2.0 Tsi Scirocco & I have an Aston Vantage Roadster so I can give you a view on moving from one to the other as I do it on a daily basis!!
They are both good looking, reliable, great handling cars that produce positive reactions from the public -but really thats where the similarity ends!
Its a completely different car to drive than the Scirocco - V8 - RWD - twice the BHP - class interior -etc it will also be around twice the cost to run -tax/insurance/ fuel & servicing - Vantages are very reliable, an indy service is around £600 - - only big cost is the clutch - £2500 - ouch - so look for one thats had a recent clutch - have a look at the Aston section on Pistonheads for more info.
A Jag XK is cheaper - a Cayman will handle better - but none of them is an Aston - for £30k IMHO there s no overall ownership experience to touch it --- Dave

Re: thinking of a change... opinions needed!
Pictures of the new Cayman have been releaded and it's a beauty
Re: thinking of a change... opinions needed!
Thought I'd drag this topic up again as I never changed car in the end, but am due a change in 3 months time.
Ultimately decided on a Audi A5 coupe black edition but I'm currently deliberating between the A5 Quattro black edition 2.0 petrol. Or the 3.0 S5 black edition.
Was looking for some friendly advice
They look identical with the black edition kits on both from the outside, so other than the obvious s5 badge and the 4 exhaust pipes they are the same. Inside the s5 has nicer 2 tone seats - but, importantly the s5 only comes in automatic and isn't available ( without splurging an extra £2.5k ) in the Daytona grey I want.
Pricewise I have 2 great deals - only £480 for the 2.0 and £508 for the s5
So guys - would you sacrifice your choice of colour and the manual stick for what is essentially just a bigger engine ?
Or would you take the (slightly) cheaper monthly costs for a manual stick and preferred colour?
In a pickle !

It's got to be the s5! More power aswell. Plus it would hold its money a lot more. Just look at an audi s3 for example they are holding there money really well for the age of them. Is that £508 a month?

Re: thinking of a change... opinions needed!
I would say it's a no brainer, S5:-)
Re: thinking of a change... opinions needed!
S5 all day long, given the size i think the 2.0 will feel under powered
