Do you have any funny 'rituals'?

Post by wintercooled »

The kind of thing that I mean is - I never accelerate hard until oil temp is up to 80 degrees C. Even if it's 79 and I want to over take... I wait.

I also always leave the volume knob with the power icon pointing up. If someone turns it up, I turn it back and use the steering wheel controls to turn it up.

A better subject for this thread might be 'do you have Scirocco related ocd'? ;-)

Always have the MFD showing oil temp when starting from cold until into 60's C and also keep revs about 2000rpm before then. Always take car for a run after washing to ensure brakes are thoroughly dried and dont stick next time it is used.

I do the volume / power icon one :).

Also air vents have to be all the same and stereo volume increase in even figures :D.

Do the same with stereo volume control, always has to face up. Also climate control has to be set on an even number, no odd numbers in my car please :-D

Thank god I'm not alone. Do the exact same thing with the volume knob.

I do the same with the volume knob also. Plus volume number has to be an even number, but the temperature has to be an odd number. No idea why, but its the law.

Volume knob vertical too !

Even my 11 year old daughter is insisting the icon stays vertical so it's "Dad, can you turn the volume up/down please" .

Also, I tend to turn the ignition on, so the TDi heater coil and do its thing whilst I fasten the seatbelt, instead of doing the seatbelt then turning the key.

Same thing with the volume button! haha :D I don´t like if the aircon is at 21,5 it must be a even number, and I must have the same temp on both sides in the front :D yeah and my phone is always stored in the most forward cup holder!

Stereo power/volume at 12 O’clock. Never different temperatures on the dual zone climate and most importantly ALWAYS an even number for the temperature.

I fold the mirrors in religiously even if it’s in a garage or somewhere else that it’s not really required.

Another mirror related one. I will not reverse unless the passenger side mirror goes down and because I always fold the mirrors it often means I have to mess about with the nirror control to get it to drop for me when I select reverse. Black 19' alloys and kerbs dont mix. I wish I could set my "mirror preferences" in the MFD like I can with the lights.

Definately the stereo power/volume at 12 O’clock for me. Apart from that, I cant think of anything else apart from leaving nothing on show when I park up. Not really for theiving scum-bag avoiding purposes, but more of a show-room appearance.
I can rely on my car, it's my Roc!!!

Another funny ritual i've remembered is that when put the key in the ignition, it has to be in so that when its turned on the manufacturer badge has to point towards me, not have the buttons point towards me. Think the ritual started with my last car, and have carried it on to the Roc.

I do that too, have done for years. I also have to make sure the volume icon is pointing upwards

I always say the word 'KEYS' aloud as I drop my housekeys in to the cup-holder. Its the only way I can remember that I have brought them with me!

I am quite embarrassed to admit this but I have 'driving footwear' but I don't feel right until I've wiped the rear window. I can only drive in one set of footwear.
