Do people still remap their cars?
A couple of years ago we could read alot of topics about remaping.
Nowadays they are more rare.
Do people still remap?
What is new on the subject?
Just curious!

Re: Do people still remap their cars?
I think plenty still get mapped and this will increase when more get over 3 years old and out of warranty, in the current economic climate mayve some think twice especially given insurance premium increases
Mapped the Ed35 when a month old and stage 2 at 2000 miles, love it

I remapped my last Rocco. (122PS) got about 155bhp from it. Made an amazing difference.
Gonna do the 140TDi aswell after new year sometime. Turbo back + Map = Fun

My 2.0 tsi is remapped to stage 2 and has been most of its life. Think it's now around 290-300bhp. It's worth getting done but yea it does increase your insurance but transforms the car completely. ;0)

Mines been revo'd for the last 3 years. Got me some very healthy extra horses (pick a figure depending on which dyno you run on)

Re: Do people still remap their cars?
My 2.0TSi 200ps was mapped at 7months old (after I had it 3months) at the time REVO were claiming 260ps, think they have wound it back a bit in the later ones. Love it....32000 miles later

Further to this, can the rest of the car handle the extra horses without modification? I was mainly thinking of brakes, gearbox and cooling.

Re: Do people still remap their cars?
Very nearly got mine remapped three years back – but the feedback from folks on this forum recommended not to as I run as 1.4 TSI with 7sp DSG. The engine and mechanicals would take the remap but not the DSG box. Can't handle the extra torque you see.
Oh well... I'll never know now will I...

Re: Do people still remap their cars?
Bluefin on mine at less than a year old, not on it at the moment as after the first year the excess went to £800 and premium through the roof. If I can find a good broker who will take on a 50+ year old with a clean licence will probably re-install.
