R DSG gearbox - Sport mode

Hello,

Test drove an R with DSG today that the local dealer has for sale. Thought I wouldn't like the gearbox (had in my head I wanted a manual), but I've come away liking the DSG quite a lot.

There is two things lingering on my mind though;

- When in 'S' mode on the DSG, and you shift up early with the paddle, will the car remain in the S mode (as the S on the display disappears)? Just thinking when your giving it some, but you dont want the car at 6500rpm through a corner, you'd want the gear up.

- In normal 'D' mode, If you plan to overtake and change down a few manually, will it stick with the gear for a while? I.e. you don't want it changing back up if your waiting for an opportunity.

Anyone on here taken their DSG on a track day?

Great car though, feels even more planted on the road and more urgency from the engine.

When in S mode if you use the paddles it it goes into manual mode but will revert back to S-Mode if you don't use the paddles for 20 secs or hold the right paddle for 2 secs.

It will do the same as above in D mode, so will hold the gear for 20secs before reverting back to D mode.

Bought an R with DSG. Pick it up Thursday evening! =D

For track days you'll really need to put the box in manual as IHMO DSG sport still exhibits strange shifting behaviour but saying the standard car is very capable.
